Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Between a Husband, a Best Friend and a Broken Heart

Caison presses his lips in a thin line as he pushes back on the chair not even sparing me a glance.

"Don't sign the papers." Chloe breathes into his ear, my fingers tightens around the hem of my pink skirt.

"Sir, this deal has been so difficult. It cost Mrs Diamond a who–"

" I didn't ask for your opinion." Caison cuts off Mr Raymond, the head of our finance department.

My breath still as my blue eyes burn into his skull willingly, to just look at him, to just see the pain he is causing me.

But of course he doesn't, instead he turns his head and looks at Chloe, his so-called best friend.

"This deal isn't fit for my signature. Tell them the deal is off." Caison's words echo in my ears and for the life of me I can't process them.

And yet again Caison Diamond chooses his best friend's words over my happiness in front of our staff no less.

"Cai–Caison don't do this to me." I can't help but plead.

The deal with the Beauty Softcare Company is worth ten million and it took me countless sleepless nights to get it.

"Sorry Zoira, I can't sign this." he shrugs, running his fingers through his red hair as he rubs his other fingers on the stubble on his chin.

"You can't do it or won't do it?" I grit out, my patience wearing thin and snapping.

I have had enough of this shit.

" I can't Zoira." he says, waving his fingers like I am a bug that he can just wave off.

"BECAUSE OF HER?" I scream, my eyes burning red as I jab my finger at that stupid bitch face.

The snake in the skin of a best friend that has done nothing but ruin my marriage for the past three years.

"Don't Zoira. Just let it go." he grits out, his dark iris darkening even further like I am not even worthy to address her.

"I didn't do anything wrong. I just think it wasn't worth signing." Chloe says, feigning stupid innocence as she digs her fingers into Caison's shoulder.

My. Husband's. Shoulder.

And all he does is to lean into her fucking touch while he stares at me like I am disturbing him.

"She thought it wasn't worth signing and you didn't sign it, huh? You know how hard I worked on that deal, every morning, every night I was on it. I WAS ON IT!! And you took it from me again." I cry out, my heart shattering into a million pieces all over again.

He looks down, remorse passing through his features but they are gone before I can blink.

"Stop being dramatic, it's not that big of a deal. Go work on something else." he says, the sarcasm in his voice cutting deeper than any wound.

"For three years I have kept quiet as you let this bitch tell you how to run our marriage but no more." I gasp, my heart pounding yet I know I have to do this.

I can't take it anymore, so I do the only thing left to do. I step forward and drop the papers in my hand on his table.

The divorce papers.

"I filed for a divorce, it's just your signature remaining." I finally let out the words, squaring my shoulders as his face drops contorting into an expression I can't describe.

He rises to his feet, pushing his chair back as he rounds his big table moving to stand in front of me in his usual black suit.

"What did you just say to me?" he breathes, eyes scanning mine as he steps closer, his chest rising and falling in a way I haven't seen in a long time.

Is he angry?

"I said I filed for–"

"No! You are my wife and I will not stand for that." He barks, wrapping his fingers around my left wrist to pull me closer.

My entire being shakes as I lift my right hand and send it across his face causing a loud gasp to rip out of Mr Raymond's lips.

Caison stumbles back at the impact of my hit, his palm covering his now red cheeks.

"How. Dare. You?" I grit out, my chest rising in pure rage.

"You have treated me as nothing but trash since you met with your disgusting best friend. I have tried to make this work, endured every late night, every insult she throws at me in front of you, every humiliation for three years. No more!" I bark, jabbing the bastard's chest.

"SIGN THE FUCKING PAPERS!" I scream not waiting for his response before turning and storming out of his stupid office.

My steps are sharp and heavy as I stride into my office which is directly opposite his, heading straight to my bathroom because apparently that's the only place I can cry without him seeing me since our offices are glass, we can see each other directly. I let out the tears, slapping my palms over my mouth as sobs raked through my body.

All I have ever wanted was for him to treat me like he always did when we started out, the way he loved and adored me.

We were okay until Chloe Denver came into the picture three years ago and ruined our marriage. He fell in love with her and started treating me like an outsider, like a thorn and I can't take it anymore.

"Oh my daisy." I don't need to turn to know how it is, I just reach forward slumping into her arms.

Patricia Clifford, the lady with the blazing blonde hair, fiery green eyes, my personal assistant and not importantly my best friend.

"I did it." I croak out, tears running down my eyes uncontrollably as my lips tremble, causing my entire body to shake.

"It's okay love, you totally did it." she whispers, running her fingers through my curls as she rocks me back and forth.

"He will pay for this." I cry out, my fingers tightening around Pat cashmere sweater.

"They both will." she whispers but I can hear the determination in her voice.

After what seems like hours I calm down and Patricia takes me back to my office.

"How are you?" Pat asks, shuffling on my pink couch beside me.

"I am okay. Do you think he will sign the papers?" I can't help but ask a part of me hoping that for a moment that he won't.

That he will get rid of Chloe and choose me but even I know that's wishful thinking.

"Don't torture yourself barbie, you deserve so much more than that." Pat says, using her nickname for me.

A name I earned all by loving the color pink.

"Yes, yes I do." I let out a deep breath, forcing my lips to form a smile.

"Now, let me redo your hair. You look hideous now that you are soon to be single. Who knows if a hot man can just waltz in." she grins, giggling as she shuffles behind me.

"You read too many books Patricia." I grin, letting out a deep breath, willing myself not to think of Caison.

" No, they are real. For all we know your–"

Her words cut off as the door to my office creaks open, my head snaps up the sight before me causing my entire being to go pale.

Who the hell is this?
