Chapter 27 - The Last Hellhounds Are a Pig and a Dog

A burly figure stepped out from the red glow and dust, making a grand entrance.

That figure did not look like a human, but more like a monster.

Was it the legendary Hellhound?

As the dust and red light faded, Woo Manyeo looked closely.

What walked toward them was a giant white pig.

"A pig!?"

Why was there a pig in Hell?

Had even pigs started ending up in Hell these days?

Ignis saw Woo Manyeo's shock and explained, "Yes, that is right, it is a pig. Probably some unlucky guy reached his ten year term, so they are going to the human world to harvest souls."

Woo Manyeo had originally thought Hell could not possibly get any more ruined, but it kept shattering his imagination.

A white pig harvesting souls???

Where were the three headed dogs?

Where were the legendary Hellhounds, those cool and terrifying three headed beasts?

Why were there only dumb, grunting white pigs left in Hell?

Ignis shrugged and pointed toward the pigs, "There are no three headed ones left. There is only a one headed one left. It is right over there."

Woo Manyeo followed the direction Ignis pointed.

Behind the white pig, a husky crawled out from behind its backside, tilting its head as it looked at him, seemingly curious about the new demon companion in Hell.

"Huff… huff… huff…"

"Ha… ha… ha…"

Woo Manyeo was completely stunned, staring blankly at the pig and dog duo in the distance that could barely walk two steps without panting.

NO!!!

HELL! PLEASE! NO!

Woo Manyeo's language system completely broke down.

He gestured wildly, pointing at the pig and dog pair, and only after a long moment did he manage to regain his thoughts.

"So, so that is it? There are only these two left in Hell? Why did it become like this?"

"They were all used up in the last war. The demon who used to raise Hellhounds is also dead. Everyone else was too lazy to raise them. After all, it is really troublesome. Those beasts are too stupid and also very smelly."

"A war? What war?"

Ignis was unwilling to continue the topic and instead changed the subject.

"If you are willing to raise these beasts, you can take over caring for them."

Looking at the pig and dog duo, a spark flashed in Woo Manyeo's eyes.

"Can I go out with them? To the human world."

Going out voluntarily was better than sitting around waiting for humans to summon him.

With Lord Astarion's words, Woo Manyeo would be able to stay outside a little longer.

As long as he went out one more time, he could do a bit more advertising and create more opportunities to enter the human world.

"It is possible, but why? I already told you, doing more work does not give any reward. These two are really difficult to manage. You should wait for the next human summoning and then complete Lord Astarion's mission."

"This… I just simply like doing transactions."

Even if there was no commission right now, it did not matter.

Sooner or later, she would find a way to change this rule.

When the day came that she rose to power, all accumulated transactions would be counted and he would definitely receive every commission he deserved.

Woo Manyeo stood up and walked over to the pair of pig and dog, he then asked Ignis, "Do they have names?"

"I don't know. We just call them pig and dog."

"How did they end up in Hell?"

"That pig was originally the meat pig of a serial killer. After each murder, the killer would feed the corpses to the pig. After he was arrested, the pig was also euthanized. After both of them came to Hell, the killer failed to transform, but this pig actually succeeded in transforming."

"What about the dog?"

"The dog was just an ordinary pet dog. It was probably too stupid. Its owner was being taken in for soul extraction and it followed along and got killed. Normally animal souls would not be taken, but it insisted on following its owner. Its owner was the one who used to raise hellhounds. After its owner died, I mean completely died, these two little things were left without anyone caring for them."

Woo Manyeo carefully observed the pair of pig and dog.

There was a faint glimmer of intelligence in the pig's eyes, it was unclear whether this was because it had eaten too many humans or because it had become a demon pig.

As for the dog, only a vacant and broken light could be seen in its eyes.

"You are actually letting them collect souls? Can they even bring them back properly?"

"Of course they can bring them back! Soul collection is not difficult. Just kill the person and that is it. These two have been doing soul collection work in recent years."

These demons in Hell really could not be any more unreliable!

If he were not already dead, Woo Manyeo really wanted to pinch the bridge of his nose to stop himself from being angered to death by this group of demons.

Both the pig and the dog had collars around their necks.

Woo Manyeo guessed they were put there by the demon who originally raised them.

Between the two collars was a thick iron chain.

The collars and chain were engraved with unknown runes and it was similar to the strange symbols in the archive room.

This set of restraints bound the pig and dog together, restricting their movements so they could not separate too far.

While holding the human expired transaction contract as the pig and dog approached the gate of Hell, the gate of Hell began to emit a faint glow.

Woo Manyeo held the iron chain tightly and resolutely led the pig and dog toward the gate of Hell.

He would rather take the pig and dog to the human world for a walk than continue lying flat with this unreliable group of demons.

In the dim fading light, faint sounds of the pig and dog's breathing could still be heard.
