Chapter 11 - The Contract System

"If he had asked for fifty million or even a hundred million, I would have given it to him. After all, human money is worthless to us. Money is not as valuable as things like health, lifespan, or talent. But who told him to shout so loudly and annoy my ears? Did you see how I gave him an extra two million and he became so grateful, practically in tears? How ridiculous. Hahaha, humans are really stupid. For such a small amount of money, they sell their souls. Most of those who exchange their souls for money end up falling into poverty again within three to five years, no matter how much they asked for."

Woo Manyeo could not quite bring himself to laugh.

Ever since becoming a demon, his emotions as a human had faded quite a bit, but they still existed to some extent.

He did not know whether other demons were the same.

The Diomedes in front of him was definitely different.

Diomedes had completely cast aside his humanity.

If it had been him before he died, he might have felt furious at Diomedes's actions. But now, he only felt a bit dissatisfied and not strongly enough to turn against Diomedes.

"Senior, how do we obtain the contracts used for transactions?"

"There's a place in hell specifically for storing contracts. We all carry some with us."

Diomedes then snapped his fingers and a stack of contract papers and a feather quill appeared in his hand.

He casually tossed them to Woo Manyeo. "Take them. They won't be used up anyway. The last batch I took out has been sitting around for decades and still hasn't been used up. In the future, once you finalize the terms, just have the human sign it."

Woo Manyeo looked at the parchment scroll in his hands.

It was slightly yellowed and so old that it looked like an artifact just unearthed.

The parchment had been carelessly rolled into a scroll by Diomedes.

When opened, it revealed many runes drawn across its surface.

The content of the contract would automatically appear above the runes.

The metal shaft at the tip of the feather quill was also engraved with similar runes.

The moment he picked up the quill, the runes on it glowed with a red light.

These things… who had made them?

Judging by Diomedes's attitude, they did not seem to be anything precious.

He had even casually thrown the already signed contract to him as well.

There was something even more important.

Why did he feel that these runes looked so familiar?

He clearly could not understand them, yet they felt inexplicably familiar.

Had he seen something like this somewhere before?

Woo Manyeo quickly went through more than twenty years of his memories and was certain that he had never come into contact with anything related to demons or hell.

As an atheist, he had even disliked strange tales and supernatural stories.

This sense of familiarity was truly inexplicable!

"What if the human does not sign their real name?" Woo Manyeo continued to ask.
