Chapter 5: The Baby Bottle Blame Game Infiltrates Shrek

A pure black iron shield suddenly descended from the sky.

It lay between the man in black and Huo Ling'er.

The disc covered with mysterious runes on the shield spun rapidly, its sharp edges drawing out wisps of black light.

The spiderwebs, coated with venom, snapped with a sharp crack.

Huo Ling'er was momentarily dazed, but her consciousness returned instantly.

Looking up at the sky, his gaze froze—

The young man, dressed in a black outfit, with a black iron shield in his left hand and a white phantom sword in his right, descended from the sky like a god.

The next second, he flicked his fingertips with a sword technique, and an incomparably pure sword beam shot forward, piercing through the black-clad man's heart.

He is...

Huo Ling'er stared intently at the boy in front of her, who was two heads taller than her, and felt a strange sense of familiarity about him.

To everyone's surprise, after gazing at her for a moment, the young man sighed softly, turned around, and drifted away.

"Hello--"

Huo Ling'er chased after him and shouted, but the boy disappeared in a few flashes.

who is he?

Why did you suddenly appear to save me?

And then they just ran away without saying another word?

She blinked her bewildered eyes hard, trying to imprint the boy's image in her heart.

—A strong, straight jawline, piercing eyes, and a finely crafted mask covering his face.

His black robes were simple and neat, with nothing particularly eye-catching about them. Oh, right... there was a small dark green badge flashing on his chest.

What a mysterious person!

What is his martial spirit?

A black iron shield? Or that white phantom sword?

"Cough cough..."

A violent coughing sound came from behind me.

The little boy woke up!

What little boy? Just compared to the tall boy from before.

Huo Ling'er quickly stepped forward to help him up; even when the little boy stood up straight, he was still more than half a head taller than her.

"You're not dead! That's great!"

She used all her strength to support him and try to make him lean against her.

But the boy was so weak that he couldn't stand for more than three seconds and was about to collapse again.

Huo Ling'er shouted anxiously in his ear:

"No, please don't faint again! What's your name? Where do you live?"

Although the two men in black who were chasing him were dead and the immediate crisis was temporarily over, she still had to go back to the bench to wait for her father and could no longer stay with him.

However, the boy was in very bad shape; his face was deathly pale, and his body was slumping against the wall.

"and..."

He had barely uttered a single word when he suddenly coughed up a mouthful of blood, his legs buckled, and he collapsed.

Huo Ling'er held on to him tightly, preventing him from falling to the ground. She supported his head and let him rest on her shoulder, but her heart was filled with conflicting emotions.

What should we do?

We can't just stand by and watch him die, can we?

"Vegetable...head".

The boy managed to utter two words through gritted teeth, then tilted his head and collapsed onto Huo Ling'er.

Huo Ling'er wanted to cry but had no tears.

You... you only said your name and then fainted. Where should I take you?

Radish? What an earthy name!

Sigh, there's nothing I can do but take him back to the bench and wait for his dad to come back!

The little girl struggled to lift Caitou onto her back, but she had to bend over to hold him tight, and as a result, Caitou's two legs were still dragging on the ground.

We can't worry about that now; we have to get out of this mess first.

But as she took two steps and passed the two men in black, something seemed to dazzle her eyes in the sunlight.

She paused, turning her head to look back—under the body of the man in black she had killed with her tiger claws, there was a golden object.

"What is that?"

She gently placed Cai Tou against the wall, and Cai Tou's head hit the brick wall with a 'thud'.

"Oh dear, I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry..."

Huo Ling'er apologetically rubbed his hands a couple of times, then couldn't resist her curiosity to see the source of the golden light.

Upon closer inspection, it turned out that beneath the man in black was a metal soul tool shaped like a baby bottle, with the sun and moon symbols clearly engraved on its edges.

Huo Ling'er pinched her nose, used two fingers to pull the thing out, and blinked.

"What is that?"

She grew up in the Star Luo Empire. As an ancient martial soul family, the Wind Shadow Spirit Cat family rarely used soul tools. Moreover, she had only recently awakened her martial soul and had never even seen one before.

"Let's put it away for now, and ask Dad later."

She muttered to herself as she tucked the 'bottle' into her bosom.

·

Ten minutes later.

Just as Huo Ling'er was carrying He Caitou, staggering along, almost back to the bench,

Sudden--

Suddenly, I tripped over my own feet!

"ah!"

She lunged forward, and He Caitou was thrown off her back.

Oops!

She can take a fall and it's fine, but He Caitou really can't take any more injuries...

Despite trying her best, she couldn't steady herself and fell down like a tumbling gourd.

But ignoring her scraped skin from the fall, she rushed back to pull He Caitou up, but...

I was stunned.

A figure taller than her father blocked her way, one hand holding He Caitou by the back of his collar like a chick.

It's good that you didn't fall!

Huo Ling'er snapped out of her daze and quickly thanked him:

"Thank you so much for saving me, Uncle..."

She pursed her lips, her bright eyes subtly darting around twice.

"May I ask your name, uncle? Where can I find you in the future?"

This time, it was 'Uncle's' turn to be stunned:

"What do you want with me?"

Huo Ling'er blinked her clear, large eyes:

"I asked you first, so you should answer me first."

The man smiled faintly:

"My name is Fan Yu, and I am a teaching assistant in the Soul Guidance Department of the Outer Court of Shrek Academy."

Huo Ling'er's eyes lit up immediately:

"real?!"

"Of course it's true." Fan Yu chuckled. "Would I lie to a little girl like you..."

"Can you take me into Shrek Academy?" Huo Ling'er interrupted him impatiently. "I need to find my father!"

Fan Yu narrowed her eyes in confusion:

"Your father? Who is he?"

"My dad went to Shrek Academy early this morning to take the inner academy entrance exam."

Huo Ling'er bit her lower lip lightly and scratched her head.

"He said he would come back after the exam, but we haven't seen him since."

"Dad didn't show up, but two bad guys showed up instead."

"Teacher Fan Yu, this place doesn't seem very safe..."

She pointed with her little finger to the pickled mustard greens in Fan Yu's hand.

"Look, he's on his last legs..."

Fan Yu looked down and noticed that the child in her arms had fallen into a deep coma, and the situation was not good.

"Is he your friend?" Fan Yu frowned.

Huo Ling'er quickly waved her hand, her bright eyes blinking.

"No, you were the one holding him... Isn't he your friend?"

Fan Yu's expression froze.

What do you mean?

"Teacher Fanyu, you're so kind, you wouldn't just stand by and watch someone die, right?"

The little girl's voice rang in her ears, but why did Fan Yu feel like she had been sold?
