Chapter 24 - The Hunter's Footsteps

The Pacific waters were deceptively calm today, hiding the storm brewing beneath. Abir Khan stood in his high-tech control room, monitoring the island's security on massive screens. Beside him stood Arisa, the sapphire necklace around her neck glinting in the afternoon sun.

"See, Arisa?" Abir smiled faintly. "Not even a fishing boat can come within twenty miles of this island without my permission. I have built an impenetrable fortress just for you."

"But Abir..." Arisa whispered, "are you forgetting Aryan's stubbornness? He might not be as powerful as you, but he doesn't give up easily."

Abir's face darkened instantly. He turned and gripped her shoulders firmly. "I told you, Arisa—Aryan's chapter is closed. He is nothing but ash now. I don't want to hear his name from your lips ever again."

Suddenly, an alarm blared. A small speedboat was seen on the monitors, racing toward the southern side of the island. Abir's guards prepared to fire, but he signaled them to wait. Instead of attacking, the boat launched a small drone that flew directly toward Abir's glass palace.

The drone dropped a small device on the balcony and retreated. Abir picked it up—it was an audio recorder. He pressed play, and Aryan's voice filled the room.

"Abir Khan, did you think this blue water would stop me? I found the key in the ruins of your mansion that revealed your secret coordinates. Arisa is my sister, and I am coming to take her from your hell. See you soon!"

Abir smashed the recorder in a fit of rage. His eyes turned blood-red with fury. He realized a mistake from his own past had finally caught up with him.

"Prepare for war!" Abir roared at his men. "If Aryan sets foot on this island, make sure he doesn't leave alive. And take Arisa to her room and lock the door!"

As the guards dragged Arisa away, she gave Abir a haunting smile. It wasn't a smile of fear, but of a looming catastrophe. For the first time, Abir Khan sensed that his empire might be starting to crumble.
