"Where were you two last night?" Tiger asked in a teasing tone the moment he spotted Gideon and Adeline descending the grand staircase.
"In the palace," Gideon replied.
"But you had planned to return late last night," Tiger pointed out, giving them a knowing look. "Never mind. I am famished. Let's have breakfast quickly so I can take my leave."
Adeline stopped in her tracks, surprised to hear he was leaving so abruptly. "I thought you were going to stay until we found a way to permanently deal with the witch."
"Yeah, that was the plan. But you two are newlyweds," Tiger replied, offering a light shrug. "It doesn't feel right for me to keep imposing on your space. It's not like I live far, so Gideon can call anytime."
"Hmm." Adeline slowly walked behind Gideon, with Tiger keeping pace right beside them. Once they were seated around the table, the maids immediately began serving the meal. Suddenly, Gideon reached over under the table and captured Adeline's right hand in his grip.
