In the hot water tub, both Adeline and Gideon sat close together, the soothing warmth enveloping them. Her head rested comfortably on his muscular shoulder as she idly scooped up a mound of frothy white lather, gathering the bubbles between her palms.
With a soft breath, she blew over her hands, sending the iridescent bubbles drifting through the steam-filled air.
Gideon simply admired her, his dark eyes watching her play with the lather. His mind, however, was in a constant battle; thoughts kept hitting him about how fiercely he wanted to protect her from everything wrong in the world, and how desperately he wished for the curse never to come true.
"Gideon, next time you go to Morticia, take me with you as well," Adeline said, tilting her head back to look at him.
"Sure," Gideon nodded gently, pressing a soft kiss to the top of her wet hair.
