"Lili, wake up. Guess what today is?”
Julianne's elegant, beautiful voice echoed throughout the room. However, I burrowed deeper into the blankets as soon as I heard her.
Normally, I would’ve been half-asleep, but in truth, I had been wide awake about thirty minutes before Julianne even showed up.
The reason I had been huddled in the blankets until now...
"It's been a while since we got to celebrate your birthday together, Lili. Are you going to stay in bed the whole time?"
…was because today was Lilianne Blanchet's birthday, damn it.
"Just five more minutes..."
I purposely pulled up the blanket all the way up to my nose and pretended to have just woken up, speaking in a drowsy-sounding voice.
Julianne let out a soft sigh but started stroking my head gently as if it couldn’t be helped.
