Chapter 1 - THE KING AND THE SHADOW OF TRUTH!!...

Long ago, in a magnificent kingdom called Suryagarh, there ruled a powerful king named Rajveer. His palace stood high on a hill, overlooking golden fields, flowing rivers, and busy marketplaces. People from distant lands came to admire the beauty and wealth of Suryagarh.

King Rajveer was known as a brave warrior. He had defeated many enemies and expanded his kingdom far beyond what his ancestors had achieved. His name was spoken with respect and fear. However, beneath his strength lay a hidden weakness—he could not tolerate criticism.

He believed he was perfect.

And because of that, no one dared to tell him the truth.

A Kingdom of Silence

In the royal court, ministers gathered every day to discuss important matters. But instead of honest discussions, the court had become a place of flattery.

"Your Majesty, your decision is brilliant," one minister would say.

"No king has ever been as wise as you," another would add.

Even when mistakes were made, no one spoke against them.

Over time, this silence began to harm the kingdom.

Taxes were increased unnecessarily, causing hardship for the poor. Roads were left unrepaired. Small problems turned into big ones because no one dared to point them out.

But King Rajveer remained unaware.

He believed everything was perfect.

The Mirror Festival

Every year, Suryagarh celebrated a grand event known as the Mirror Festival. During this festival, artists from across the land created beautiful mirrors and presented them to the king.

It was said that mirrors reflected not just the face, but also the truth within.

This year, a young craftsman named Dev arrived at the palace. Unlike others, Dev was not interested in pleasing the king with beauty alone. He believed that a ruler should see reality as it is.

So he created a special mirror.

It looked ordinary, but it had a magical quality—it reflected not just appearance, but the true state of a person's heart.

The Gift

On the day of the festival, the court was filled with excitement.

One by one, artists presented their mirrors. Some were decorated with gold, others with precious stones. The king admired them all.

Then Dev stepped forward.

"What makes your mirror special?" the king asked.

Dev bowed. "Your Majesty, this mirror shows truth."

The court fell silent.

King Rajveer smiled slightly. "Truth? Very well, let us see it."

Dev handed over the mirror.

The king looked into it.

At first, he saw his reflection—strong, confident, majestic. But then, something changed.

The image began to shift.

Instead of a wise ruler, he saw a man surrounded by fear. He saw ministers who were afraid to speak. He saw poor villagers struggling. He saw mistakes ignored and problems growing.

The king's face hardened.

"This is nonsense!" he shouted. "Your mirror is faulty!"

Dev spoke calmly. "Your Majesty, the mirror does not lie."

Anger and Punishment

The king was furious.

"How dare you insult me!" he thundered.

The ministers immediately agreed.

"Yes, Your Majesty! This man is disrespectful!"

"Punish him!"

Without thinking, the king ordered, "Throw him into prison!"

Dev was taken away.

The mirror was locked in the royal treasury.

And just like that, truth was silenced once again.

The Beginning of Trouble

After the festival, things began to worsen.

A severe storm hit the kingdom, destroying crops and homes. The people needed help, but the officials were too afraid to report the full extent of the damage.

"Tell the king everything is under control," they said to each other.

So the king never realized how serious the situation was.

Food shortages increased. People grew restless. Complaints spread across villages.

But in the palace, everything appeared calm.

A Strange Encounter

One night, unable to sleep, King Rajveer walked alone through the palace.

As he passed the treasury, he felt a strange pull.

He stopped.

For some reason, he remembered the mirror.

After a moment of hesitation, he unlocked the door and took it out.

He looked into it again.

This time, the reflection was even darker.

He saw hungry children. He saw angry crowds. He saw a kingdom slowly falling apart.

And then, he saw himself—alone, sitting on a throne, surrounded by silence.

The king stepped back, shaken.

"Is this really happening?" he whispered.

A Journey in Disguise

The next day, the king made a bold decision.

He disguised himself as a common man and left the palace to see the truth with his own eyes.

He traveled through villages and towns.

What he saw broke his heart.

Farmers were struggling to grow crops. Families were sharing tiny portions of food. Roads were broken. People were unhappy.

One old woman said, "Our king does not care about us anymore."

Another man added, "Or maybe he doesn't know."

The king felt a deep pain.

For the first time, he realized the truth.

The Prisoner's Words

The king returned to the palace and went straight to the prison.

He ordered Dev to be brought before him.

Dev stood calmly, even after days of imprisonment.

The king looked at him and said softly, "Your mirror… it showed me everything."

Dev nodded. "Because it shows truth, Your Majesty."

The king lowered his head. "I was wrong."

The guards were shocked.

A king admitting his mistake was something they had never seen.

"Tell me," the king said, "how can I fix this?"

Dev replied, "By listening."

The Change

From that day, everything began to change.

The king called a grand meeting and announced, "From now on, I want honesty in my court. Speak the truth, no matter how difficult it is."

At first, the ministers were afraid.

But slowly, they began to speak openly.

Problems were discussed honestly. Solutions were found quickly.

The king also visited villages regularly and listened to the people directly.

He reduced taxes, repaired roads, and ensured food reached those in need.

The Return of Hope

Within months, the kingdom began to recover.

Fields turned green again. Markets became lively. People smiled once more.

The king's reputation changed.

He was no longer feared—he was respected and loved.

And Dev?

He was appointed as a royal advisor.

But he remained humble, always reminding the king, "Truth must never be ignored again."

The Final Reflection

Years later, King Rajveer stood before the magical mirror once more.

This time, the reflection was different.

He saw a wise ruler surrounded by trust and respect. He saw a kingdom filled with happiness and strength.

The king smiled.

He had finally become the ruler he always thought he was—but only after learning the truth.

Moral of the Story

Power without truth leads to downfall.

A great king is not one who is never wrong, but one who has the courage to accept his mistakes and change.....
