Chapter 58 - Chapter 58: Rooftop Assault and Confrontation

Late at night, a dark red figure moved rapidly across the tops of high-rise buildings.

After arriving in Hell's Kitchen, Hong Fei wasted no time finding his target. He wasn't wearing a mask anymore. Now, a hood the same dark red as his clothes concealed his face. A Cross-blade was strapped to his back, and a pistol was holstered at his lower back.

Standing on the rooftop, he gazed at a moving figure inside a window in the building opposite.

He stepped back a few paces, took a light breath, and his legs suddenly erupted with power.

Taking two steps, he planted his foot on the edge of the roof and pushed off with force, his body instantly shooting forward in a straight line. Adjusting his direction, there was a crackle as the glass shattered. Hong Fei crashed through the narrow window, rolled on the floor, and steadied himself.

The television blared with noisy sounds behind him.

Across a long sofa, a woman wrapped in a bath towel let out a short gasp of surprise, then stared at him with astonishment and anger. There was no fear in her eyes.

After a second of locking eyes, Jessica Jones immediately kicked the sofa. The heavy piece of furniture flipped into the air, flying toward Hong Fei. She possessed extraordinary strength, speed, and endurance.

Hong Fei didn't underestimate her and immediately activated the Eyes of Death. Kneeling on the ground and leaning backward, the sofa flew past his face. He then saw Jessica swinging her long legs down in a fast chop. However, she seemed to have forgotten that she was wearing nothing but a bath towel.

Under the Eyes of Death, Jessica's movements were slowed. Hong Fei passively saw everything clearly from below.

Sidestepping to avoid her long, smooth legs, Hong Fei quickly stood up and flashed behind her. Jessica's reaction was not slow at all. She swung her long leg backward, the bath towel sliding to the sides against her delicate skin.

Hong Fei no longer dodged. He bent his knees and rose, striking the back of Jessica's knee, instantly neutralizing her force.

Taking advantage of the moment, he moved forward, trapped her remaining supporting leg, and tensed his muscles, causing Jessica to instantly lose her balance.

Bang! Jessica was firmly pinned to the floor by Hong Fei. She struggled continuously. Her immense strength forced Hong Fei to apply pressure repeatedly, causing the bath towel to bunch up, barely enough to cover her lower body.

"Don't move!" Hong Fei pressed down harder.

Jessica roared, "I'm going to kill you!"

Seeing her struggle, Hong Fei turned and drew his pistol. The cold muzzle pressed against the back of her neck.

Click. A bullet slid into the chamber.

"You want to die?"

Jessica froze. Then, finally, she stopped struggling. Her face pressed against the floor, she breathed heavily, her anger intensifying.

"I'll let you go. Get up slowly," Hong Fei said.

Jessica grunted. Hong Fei slowly removed his hand from her back.

The moment the restrictive force vanished, Jessica's eyes turned red. Her body flipped violently. She kicked out with all her might, clearly intending to cripple him.

Hong Fei knew she wouldn't be obedient. He crossed his legs and pressed down, pinning her legs to the floor like iron pincers. Then, he slightly turned the muzzle and pulled the trigger.

Bang, bang, bang!

Three gunshots rang out. The bullets buried themselves into the floor right next to Jessica's ear.

The close-range gunfire caused her eardrums to scream in pain. Flying debris of stone and wood pelted the back of her head and the side of her face. Hong Fei extended his arm, the warm muzzle resting against her brow.

Though she couldn't see his face, Jessica could feel his warning, his determination.

"Who the hell are you?" she demanded.

Hong Fei didn't speak. His head instinctively tilted downward. Jessica followed his gaze and glanced down, immediately seeing two towering, upright peaks.

In an instant, Hong Fei felt as if a blazing fire had erupted in Jessica's eyes — a fire that wanted to burn him to death, and wouldn't spare her own self, either. Sure enough, the power beneath him erupted violently. Hong Fei used the momentum to backflip a few steps away. Before he could steady himself, he heard the whistling wind of a punch. Jessica had completely abandoned the bath towel, focusing all her energy on the attack. Hong Fei exchanged blows with her.

In a short time, the speed and power both of them unleashed were extremely astonishing. Five seconds later, Hong Fei seized a position. His body rushed into Jessica's embrace like a high-speed train, turning sideways to deliver an elbow strike, his entire body's power suddenly concentrated and exploding outward. Instantly, Jessica flew backward, her body first smashing through the television and then slamming heavily into the wall, causing dust to shower down.

At that moment, even her superhuman body struggled to breathe, her chest aching as if scorched by fire.

Hong Fei turned his head slightly and said in an unusual voice, "You are too weak!"

Jessica curled her legs and hugged her chest, her face flushed a dark, bruised blue. Seeing this, Hong Fei stepped forward. Ignoring her murderous gaze, he pressed her head down and struck her back with his palm. Immediately, Jessica exhaled a breath of stale air and began to gasp rapidly.

She tried to clench her fists, only to find that the strength in her entire body had been scattered by this person's strike, completely unable to gather. Hong Fei stood up, his internal energy limit beginning to increase. Only now did he have time to scan the room. It was a small studio apartment. In the innermost corner was a messy bed. The nightstand and even the bedside were piled with glass bottles and soda cans, which extended all the way to the bathroom door, keeping company with various types of trash on the floor.

The sofa that Jessica had kicked over earlier was broken in two, and the dust accumulated in the fabric floated and fell slowly under the lights. Sniffing lightly, he could still detect the incredibly mixed smell of alcohol in the room.

He was about to speak when his ears suddenly twitched, and he turned to look at Jessica, who was curled up on the floor. Drip, drip. Two hot tears hit the floor and splashed open.

Hong Fei frowned. Did he make her cry? At this moment, Master Hong felt a bit awkward; if he had known, he would have held back a bit earlier.

However, looking at the chaotic state of the room, Hong Fei slowly recalled Jessica's story. After a moment of thought, he spoke again in a cold tone: "Is crying useful? Can you cry your enemy to death?"

Jessica shook her head violently, tears flying from her red-rimmed eyes, yet her expression did not show the slightest sign of cowardice; instead, it carried an indescribable tenacity. Of course, at this moment, this tenacity was the desire to tear Hong Fei into ten thousand pieces with her own hands.

"Very good. You have hatred in your heart, so use it as fuel until it burns your enemies to ashes. However, hatred alone is not enough; that will only make you a reckless brute with no strategy. You need a stronger and firmer will to control everything about yourself. If you want to take revenge with your own hands, then wait for me in the woods on the western outskirts every night."

After saying this, Hong Fei rushed toward the window without looking back and leaped out.

Hong Fei's abrupt lecturing left Jessica stunned again, and she could not calm down for a long time.

Hong Fei climbed onto the rooftop, letting out a long sigh of relief.

Although the result was slightly different from the plan, it wasn't a major issue. Jessica's abilities weren't fully developed yet. It wasn't just about strength, speed, and endurance—she didn't even know she could fly.

That was flight in the truest sense, relying solely on one's physical body. Many methods of flight existed: battle armor, magic, or various strange energies. But flight by physical body alone held the greatest temptation for Hong Fei.

Because his physical constitution could be continuously improved and strengthened, mastering physical flight would change everything. Perhaps even traveling through space with his own body wouldn't be a dream in the future.

He had left Jessica with the hope of revenge, to be taken with her own hands. He believed that even if Jessica hated him because of tonight's events, it wouldn't compare to her hatred for her true enemies. Hong Fei would educate and guide her, until she acquired the ability to fly... and then he would defeat her!
