Chapter 49 - Chapter 49: A Plan for Samuel's Future

"Aren't you afraid he'll betray you?" Frank asked, his eyes curious as he looked at Hong Fei.

"Before he actually betrays me, everything is unknown. He might, or he might not."

Frank frowned. "Are you talking nonsense to me?"

"Hahaha, it's the truth. He won't necessarily betray me, but if he really does, I'll just beat him to death."

The current Samuel was very smart; his intelligence had already completely surpassed the human realm. Hong Fei wouldn't judge his internal thoughts based on his external actions. But similarly, he wouldn't give up on using Samuel's abilities because of that.

Being smart didn't mean he could fight. Even if he could fight, he still wasn't as good as Hong Fei was. "If he betrays me, I'll just beat him to death." Hong Fei smiled. "Have you ever heard the saying, 'If you don't beat them for three days, they'll climb the roof and strip the tiles'?"

"What does that mean?"

"Literally what it says. I won't mention when we're home, but whenever I go out, I'll definitely take him with me and give him a beating every three days. This way, it keeps the memory fresh for him, and I can indirectly test to what extent he controls his abilities. Plus, I can peek into his eyes to see exactly when he plans to betray me."

In reality, he just wanted him to drop skill cards quickly. As long as he could obtain mental abilities from him, then even if Hong Fei's energy was depleted, he could still crush him directly. But Frank didn't know that. He just wrinkled his face and stared at Hong Fei with an extremely strange look. After a long while, he said, "You really are not human!"

... Dr. Helen Cho's laboratory was under construction in full swing.

Perhaps because building a laboratory of her own from scratch made her a bit excited, her favorite work every day now was to put on a white helmet, enter the construction site, and look back and forth at the building with the blueprints.

Watching her figure from afar, Hong Fei only hoped that her Regeneration Cradle would truly be that miraculous in the future. When the time came to promote it, it would definitely be a great thing, enough to make his physical fitness grow rapidly. However, money... He flipped his palm, a green card held between his fingertips.

The tank pattern on the front seemed to be racing through the desert under the light. As his gaze swept over the tank's thick, long cannon barrel repeatedly, a flash of inspiration suddenly struck his mind. Suppose you possess an item that is extremely valuable worldwide, but due to certain characteristics of this item, you cannot use it normally or directly, yet you feel it's a waste to let it sit unused. What should you do? Sell it, of course! Just like selling family antiques when short on cash.

The tank could utilize Hong Fei's energy or run on real fuel and shells, according to the skill card's known characteristics. All of its parts and systems were genuine and indistinguishable. As a brand-new U.S. main battle tank, it should attract a lot of interest, right? The only problem was that only one could exist at a time. The old one would inevitably disappear when a new one was created. This skill card would be nearly useless after selling it.

Wait, that didn't seem right. Hong Fei's brow furrowed, and the light in his eyes flickered rapidly.

I don't have to sell it to just one buyer, it seemed. If I hid my identity well, delivered the goods before getting paid, and then found the next buyer after receiving the money, the person who lost the goods probably wouldn't dare to make a big fuss. After all, this was a main battle tank from the Eagle Sauce. You didn't buy the export version, but instead bought an M1A2SEP from someone else privately—what's the meaning of that?

Or, what if I dismantled the parts and sold them separately? Repeating this cycle over and over… he couldn't help but gasp.

He felt as though he'd inadvertently opened the door to a new world. This wasn't a skill card or an equipment card, but a bank card that generated money! The corners of Hong Fei's mouth curled up wildly.

Frank, passing by, got goosebumps. "What kind of schemes are you thinking of now?"

Hong Fei looked up and pulled him down to sit, full of energy. He asked, "Tell me, if I wanted to sell that tank, who would want it and could afford the price?"

At the distant riverbank, Military personnel filled the entire forest.

General Ross leaned against a car, a cigar in his mouth, his expression grim. He had hoped that by finding the traces of Abomination coming ashore, he could follow the trail to find his hiding place. He hadn't expected the clues to vanish completely less than a thousand meters from the riverbank. Footprints gone, blood vanished—it was as though Abomination had suddenly sprouted wings and flown away out of thin air. His target was no longer Abomination, but another unidentified individual from that night.

The footage of the other party impersonating the Military to enter the city was plain to see under surveillance, but that audacious group of imposters had also vanished into thin air after leaving the city that night. That Masked Man in Grey had chased Abomination all the way out of the city, yet even fighter jets hadn't found their tracks. Now that Abomination had also vanished, General Ross had to make the worst-case judgment: the other party had taken Abomination away. Because, besides Abomination's giant footprints, there were also the footprints of another adult.

No one could deny the connection between them. The question was, how exactly had they left? A soldier stepped forward to report.

"General, we've located all the trucks that passed nearby that night. After questioning and screening each driver, we haven't found any abnormalities."

General Ross removed the cigar from his mouth and waved his hand irritably.

"Wait," he added suddenly, "put all the drivers under secret surveillance and analyze their actions carefully."

"Yes, sir!"

For now, General Ross could only resort to clumsy methods. Modern technology was advanced, but it was far from omnipotent. Otherwise, there wouldn't be so many cold cases and wrongful convictions. He was facing a complete mystery!

If Hong Fei knew of General Ross's troubles, he might have said four words: Treading Snow Without Trace. Although using that technique while carrying Abomination was exhausting, the result was clearly worth it.

At that moment, someone else came forward, holding a phone.

"Report, General, a call from Tony Stark."

General Ross's eyebrows shot up, and his anger erupted. "Tell that bastard to go to hell! Even if I dismember Abomination and boil him for food, he won't get a single piece of bone scrap!"

He slammed his cigar onto the ground, grinding it under his foot as if he were stepping on Tony Stark's throat.

Stark Tower. Tony's face remained impassive as he listened to General Ross's roar. After the call ended, he turned and shrugged at Coulson.

"You heard him. I told you I already tried my best. Last time he almost kicked me out of the bar, and now he looks like he wants to kill me. Please, the facts are the facts. Can you still think this is a problem with me, the consultant?"

Coulson sighed. "I'm sorry, Mr. Stark, for troubling you. I'll take the news back right away. Thank you for your efforts."

"You're welcome. Remember to pay the consultant fee on time."

Leaving the tower, he got into his car, put on his sunglasses, and drove off. The corners of Coulson's mouth gradually rose.

Turning on the Bluetooth, he smiled after a moment and said, "Director, I'm very sorry. Although our consultant went in person, the mission unfortunately failed."
