After 2 weeks Garret had grown accustomed to his new home everything was perfect his hunts were good his rival interactions were decent mainly having fights with plesioth when he goes to drink water rathian and narjarala were hard encounters but he held his own or put up a good enough fight to where they found it not worth it him and an yian kut ku were fierce rivals it may be a cowardly bird but because he was young it thought it could take him then again he couldn't blame him for following his instinct after all it was a monster eat monster world out here literally and metaphorically.
While eating an aptonoth he heard the bird like call of a particular monster as he turned around the yian kut ku was contesting him for the corpse as he roared back they started circling each other as yian kut ku threw a fireball he jumped over it and went for a claw strike on yian kut ku head but it jumped back just as his claw slammed into the ground yian kut ku charged at him immediately he gripped yian kut ku head trying to turn him away as Garrett used his better body strength to slam yian kut ku to the ground he threw it across the ground kicking up dirt immediately before they could continue to fight an arrow slammed into the tree in between them confused they looked where it came from immediately Garret jumped as another arrow flew past him if he didn't jump at that moment he would've been impaled as for yian kut ku just as it was about to fly away it got hit with a tranquilizer bullet/dart hitting the Ground immediately with a very little resistance.
He ran away leaving the corpse behind he didn't think hunters would come here so soon assuming they lived nearby or some thing where they had a quest you decided maybe it was best to avoid the area returning to his nest he was prepared to defend himself if necessary meanwhile with the hunters stark A well-known poacher and right hand man to an illegal monster fighting ring was speaking to his men stark:"I want that yian kut ku restrainted and sedated heavily that single dart is going to wear off" as they but the yian kut ku on a cart one of the men approached stark asking a question henchmen:"sir are we going to go after that juvenile zinogre" stark spoke giving the honest answer.
Stark:"of course we are juvenile monsters are worth a lot in fighting arenas and if it dies it's fresh parts are a good second option" stark let his scout bugs out to track the juvenile zinogre Thinking he was about to get rewarded for a new fighter in the fighting arena and a good replacement for their old zinogre as they followed the scout bugs from his foot prints to his tufts of fur after supposedly finding his lair they set up an pitfall trap one of his henchmen asked the obvious and most important question henchmen:"Sir how are we going to get it out of its nest and onto the trap" stark proceeded to explain the plan which had 100% chance of working stark:"one of you was going to throw that small gunpowder keg into the opening when it exploded it'll run away fall onto the trap and then mark will shoot it with sleeping darts rendering it heavily sedated then strap it to another cart and take it back to the fighting arena".
Immediately they followed up with that plan two poachers grabbed a small explosive barrel lighting the fuse with flint and stone and threw it as it landed in the opening Garret eyes shot open immediately he jumped out the tree landing on the ground as he fell he was aiming for the bed of leaves hoping they would cushion his fall as he landed the leaves broke apart as he fell into a pitfall trap he began struggling trying to get out as two hunters surrounded him loading their Lightbow guns with sleeping dogs repeatedly shooting him immediately he felt drowsy as he collapsed and went to sleep after hoisting him out of the pitfall trap they put him on a cart and restrained him normally the thunder bugs would've attempted to protect him but because he was sedated they thought he was sleeping so they hid in his fur until he eventually wakes up.
After several minutes which will actually hours Garret woke up dazed as he rose up his head hit something looking around he was in a cage in an semi dark place surrounded with other cages filled with other monsters like yian gargruga tigrex anjanath ect. Suddenly he heard footsteps as 2 men approached carrying food it was aptonoth tails One of them noticed him and laughed while talking to their colleague poacher:"Look! The newbie is finally awake Oh I can't wait to see you fight in ring" Even turned it to his colleagues Stephen asking him if he knew something.
Poacher:"Stephan do you know who this guy going up against tomorrow" the other poacher feeding the monsters spoke Stephan:"um I think a barroth our capture team caught in the Desert recently although it might be another monster I'm gonna have to check the schedule" Garret worst fears have come true well aside from an elder dragon his second worst fear he was now stuck in an illegal monster fighting arena just like how hunters had permits and licenses they gave them specific quests for hunting certain monsters why they were allowed to and what the reason was for there was also illegal hunters/poachers that haunted to sell parts on the black market or put other monsters in fighting arenas and sadly he was part of the ladder but he wasn't despaired he was going to find a way to get out of here and return to his home.
