~Livia's POV
After the call ended, I did not move immediately.
I just stood there, with the phone still in my hand, staring at nothing in particular while my thoughts moved in circles inside my head.
My chest rose slowly as I took a breath, and then another, trying to settle the strange mix of feelings sitting inside me.
"I am doing the right thing," I muttered under my breath, almost like I needed to hear it out loud to believe it.
Because if I did not say it, then the other thought would come. The one I was trying not to face, the one that reminded me exactly who Salvatore was and what he was capable of.
I knew him so well. Not just in the way people around him knew him, not just as the man who controlled everything with a calm face and cold decisions, but in the way you only understand someone after watching them long enough.
He did not forgive betrayal. He did not overlook it.
