Chapter 37 - Ch 37: Who are you??

Mira looked up, her eyes settling on him. For a moment, Leon forgot how to breathe.

"Mira…" His voice trembled, fragile, almost breaking. "It's me…"

Her brows drew together slightly, confused.. not recognizing what's before her. Her lips parted, dry and uncertain.

"Who… are you?"

The words hit him like a silent blow. The entire room was silent. Leon froze. His fingers tightened around hers before he could stop himself.

"…Mira?" he tried again, softer now, gentle yet desperate. "It's me… Leon."

"Mira!!" She kept looking at him. Searching, but failing.

A pause. She looked around scared, impatient..

"Who… am I?"

That... that broke something deeper. Leon's breath hitched, his chest tightening painfully. For a second, he couldn't speak.

Couldn't think. Not just him... She had lost herself.

"I…" His voice faltered, and he swallowed hard, forcing control back into it. "You're Mira."

He said her name carefully, like placing something fragile back into her hands.

"My wife."

The word lingered in the air. Heavy... claiming.

"You're safe," he added quietly. "You're with me."

Her eyes flickered again—scared, she started looking around, touching her head...

Leon forced a small smile.

"Mira... Mira..." He said as gently as possible calming her...

"I forgot... I... am... who?? I... " She was panicking..

"Mira... calm down.." She slowly lost her consciousness and fell to his arms.

Leon didn't turn... Didn't move.

"Doctor..." he cried.

His gaze stayed locked on her.

Doctors rushed in, followed closely by Finn. They surrounded her bed, checking monitors, adjusting lines, exchanging quick, quiet instructions.

Leon stood there—helpless, watching... waiting. After a few minutes, one of the doctors turned to him.

"Sir, please wait outside."

The door closed.

"Leo…" Finn's voice broke through.

"Come with us."

They walked into the doctor's cabin. Reports were already laid out—X-rays glowing on the screen, files scattered across the desk.

"Leo…" the doctor began, his tone steady. "She has been diagnosed with amnesia."

Leon's brows tightened. "Amnesia…?"

"Yes." The doctor nodded. "She has lost her memory. Completely."

A pause.

"She doesn't remember anything."

Another pause.

"Not even herself."

"Is it… permanent?" Leon asked, his voice low.

"We can't say yet," the doctor replied. "At this stage, we don't know if—or when—her memories will return. It could be gradual… or not at all."

Silence.

"Finn…" Leon's voice was barely there. "Is she… going back?"

Finn exhaled, choosing his words carefully.

"Leo… right now, her mind is like a blank paper."

Leon looked up. Blank.

"So we need to be very careful," Finn continued. "Everything we say, everything we do... it shapes what she believes."

A pause.

"With time, she'll decide what feels real… and what doesn't."

Leon didn't respond. But something shifted in his eyes.

"Anyway," Finn added, a little more gently, "you've already introduced yourself as her husband."

A glance.

"Build on that. Slowly. Don't overwhelm her."

"Let her accept it… at her pace."

"Hmmm…"

"Can I see her now?" Leon asked.

"Yes," the doctor replied. "And during the check-up, I introduced myself… and Finn as your best friend."

Finn gave a small nod.

"Okay." Leon stepped out of the cabin. His mind wasn't calm. It wasn't even clear. It was chaos.

Fragments of thoughts colliding... fear, relief, opportunity, guilt.

A blank mind. A blank life.

His steps slowed as he reached her door. For a moment, his hand hovered over the handle.

Then...

He pushed it open.
