Chapter 1 - A Glimpse of the Future

Etherian stood at the front of the army, and no one gave him any armor, unlike the rest of the soldiers. All he had with him was a sword in his right hand.

He was looking at the sword with sad and hopeless features.

"Once again… How long will this continue?"

The clouds were blocking the sun's rays and filling the sky, as if they had no end. The ground was muddy and had not yet dried from the heavy rain that had fallen yesterday.

Etherian began looking at the faces of the soldiers around him. Fear filled their features, and he could easily know what the soldiers were thinking. They were afraid of death. Some of them had children they wanted to return to, and some were still young boys who did not want to die here.

Etherian's face was empty of expressions, then he looked at the sky in silence. He could feel the cold winter air striking his lips and face.

Until the sound of a disturbing horn cut off his moments of silence.

And the ground filled with the sound of screaming followed by the collision of swords.

Etherian pressed hard on his sword, and tried to push away the feelings of fear from himself.

Then he rushed forward, and found a soldier in front of him.

The soldier was covered with heavy iron armor, and nothing was revealed from his body except his eyes filled with anger.

Their eyes met for a short moment, before Etherian rushed quickly toward him. He tried to hit him with all his strength toward his neck, but he could not penetrate his armor.

The soldier advanced toward him in a heavy moment, then raised his sword high in the sky until it blocked it from Etherian's sight.

Etherian looked at him with features filled with terror and fear. And as soon as the soldier brought down his sword quickly, piercing Etherian's body, Etherian began screaming loudly. But the soldier did not stop, so he swung and hit him hard, piercing his heart. The blood began to spill from Etherian's body, and the ground beneath him began to turn red.

Etherian fell to the ground. His torn clothes were filled with his blood. His blood began to mix with the mud. He placed his hand on his heart, and looked at the sky calmly, but he could not think of anything because of the intensity of the pain.

He remained on the ground for a few moments.

But he did not die.

The wounds in Etherian's body began to disappear quickly, and his body began to heal as if he had not been injured by anything. Then he began to rise slowly.

The battle was at the peak of its strength even though only one hour had passed since its beginning, and the ground was filled with corpses.

Etherian grabbed his sword and rose again.

And in the same moment, the soldiers with whom Etherian was fighting began to retreat slowly backward, and to encircle the enemy soldiers in the middle.

Etherian looked toward the soldier who had brought him down, then headed toward him quickly. And in a moment he struck him on his right hand with the sword. The blow did not cause him any scars, but he soon turned to him. Etherian plunged his sword into his eyes while screaming at the top of his voice. So the soldier fell dead on the ground.

Etherian's sword became filled with blood, and his hands became stained.

Etherian looked at the dead soldier and felt a feeling he did not understand.

"I have killed another person again…"

He repeated it in a low voice and with cold features leaning toward sadness.

And soon he turned to complete his fight, and found three soldiers who had surrounded him from all sides.

And when they began to advance toward him, the sky filled with a bright yellow light.

The sorcerers who had been hiding on the tops of the mountains had begun casting their spells toward the center of the battle.

The soldiers looked at the spells with astonishment and despair.

"Weren't they just swordsmen? Where did the spells come from?"

And they understood nothing of what was happening.

But it was only moments.

For the spells to begin hitting the soldiers as if they were flaming meteors. But Etherian was in the middle of the circle, and he began to burn with the rest of the enemy soldiers.

The soldiers allied with Etherian began to cheer:

"The plan succeeded! We have won!"

They said it while they were in their utmost happiness, as if they had been given another life.

The soldiers began to fall and die one after the other. And the ground was burning as if it were a pile of fire in a winter fireplace. And the sounds of screaming and pain filled the place.

And at the same time, Etherian was burning and felt pain that could not be endured. And he began to think:

"How did all of this begin? And the most important… will it end?"
