Chapter 3 - Chapter 3, Weapon Enhancement,By An Unknown Factor

The awakening ceremony officially ended a little past noon.

Teachers dismissed the students one class at a time, reminding them to report to the administration office during the following week to register their classes and receive beginner guidance. Some students left the academy grounds with bright smiles, already surrounded by friends who wanted to celebrate.

Others walked away quietly, their heads lowered as they tried to come to terms with disappointing results.

Aaron and Rei walked together through the front gate of Lemurian Hunter Academy , blending into the steady flow of students heading toward the main street.

For a while, neither of them spoke.

Rei was still trying to digest the reality that his friend had awakened one of the lowest ranked classes imaginable.

Finally, he let out a long sigh.

"Brother Aaron... you really don't seem bothered at all."

Aaron glanced sideways at him.

"Should I be?"

Rei scratched his head helplessly. "Well... most people would be."

Aaron smiled faintly, hands in his pockets.

Inside his mind, the system panel still lingered quietly, like a hidden window only he could see. The information it displayed had already overturned the assumptions of this world.

An E rank class with an unknown multiplier on every reward.

Even Aaron, who usually preferred a quiet life, could not deny the temptation of that ability.

Rei suddenly leaned closer and lowered his voice.

"Listen... I know you always liked taking things easy, but the situation now is different."

"Oh?"

"You awakened a Laborer class,"Rei continued seriously. "If you want to live comfortably, you should register with one of the construction guilds as soon as possible. They pay awakened Laborers pretty well."

Aaron raised an eyebrow.

"You've already arranged my future twice today."

"Three times actually. I was going to suggest the transportation guild earlier but it felt insensitive," Rei said awkwardly and continued. "I'm just saying... the outside world is dangerous. Monsters don't care whether your class is good or bad."

Aaron laughed, a real one, not polite. "I'll think about it.

He did not argue with the logic.

A normal E rank Laborer would indeed have no reason to step outside the city walls.

But the system inside his head changed everything.

He was about to say something when a loud voice suddenly echoed from the side of the street.

"Move! Move aside!"

Several students turned their heads in surprise.

A black Bureau vehicle rolled up near the academy gate. Two uniformed officers stepped out and began setting up a temporary registration table.

Rei blinked.

"That was fast."

"What is it?" Aaron asked.

"The Bureau's beginner registration station," Rei explained. "They always set one up after awakening ceremonies. New hunters can sign up for training teams there."

He glanced at Aaron and quickly added, "Of course, it's mostly for combat classes."

Aaron looked toward the table curiously.

Several students had already gathered around it.

One of the officers raised his voice.

"All newly awakened individuals may register here if they wish to join beginner hunting teams. The first expedition outside the city will take place in three days."

The announcement immediately stirred excitement among the crowd.

For many young people, this was the moment they had dreamed about.

Going outside the city walls meant stepping into the real world of hunters.

Rei hesitated.

"Brother Aaron... should we take a look?"

Aaron shrugged.

"Why not."

They walked closer to the registration table.

A small line had already formed. Most of the people standing there were students with combat classes. A few support classes were also present.

At the front of the line stood a young woman.

Aaron noticed her immediately.

She had long black hair tied loosely behind her head and a calm, composed expression that seemed strangely detached from the excited crowd around her.

Her posture was straight, almost like someone accustomed to discipline.

The Bureau officer glanced at the document in her hand.

"Name?"

"Luna Sane."

Her voice was clear and steady.

The officer nodded while checking the records.

"Class: Frostbreaker"

"Rank: B."

Several students nearby immediately whispered.

"B rank combat class..."

"That's impressive."

"Frostbreaker users are known for high burst damage."

Rei leaned toward Aaron.

"She's from Class One," he whispered. "I heard she scored near the top in every combat exam."

Aaron studied the girl briefly.

Luna Sane finished signing the registration form and turned around.

For a moment, her gaze swept across the crowd.

Her eyes briefly met Aaron's.

There was no particular emotion in them. Just calm observation.

Then she walked away.

Rei let out a quiet whistle.

"Cold beauty type."

Aaron chuckled softly and the line slowly moved forward.

Soon Rei was standing in front of the officer.

"Name?" the officer asked.

"Rei Lang."

The officer checked the record.

"Class: Scout. Rank: C."

He nodded.

"Good mobility class. Sign here if you want to join the beginner team."

Rei hesitated for only a second before signing the paper.

Then the officer looked at Aaron.

"Next."

Aaron stepped forward.

"Name?"

"Aaron Emegrey."

The officer glanced at his data tablet.

His eyebrows lifted slightly.

"Class: Laborer. Rank: E."

The surrounding students immediately began whispering again.

The officer looked up.

"You are aware that beginner hunting teams usually require combat classes."

Aaron nodded calmly.

"I know."

"Then why are you here?"

Aaron didn't answer, rather he gave the officer a determined gaze, which caused the officer to stare back for a moment before shrugging it off.

"Well, curiosity isn't a crime."

He tapped the tablet.

"If you insist on joining, sign here. But I'll warn you in advance. The wilderness outside Lemuria City is not a playground."

Aaron signed his name without hesitation.

Rei nearly jumped.

"Brother Aaron! Are you serious?"

Aaron handed the form back to the officer.

"Why not try once?"

Rei looked like he was about to collapse.

"An E rank Laborer going outside the city... if my parents hear about this they'll blame me for not stopping you."

Aaron laughed.

"Relax. I'm not planning to fight."

At that moment, a quiet voice spoke from behind them.

"Confidence without strength can be dangerous."

Aaron turned his head.

Luna Sane was standing a few steps away.

Apparently she had not left yet.

Her calm eyes rested on Aaron.

"You awakened a Laborer class," she said matter of factly. "You should understand the risks."

Her tone was not mocking.

It was simply... practical.

Aaron considered her words for a moment.

Then he smiled.

"You're right."

Luna Sane seemed slightly surprised by the straightforward agreement.

Aaron continued.

"But sometimes you won't know your limits until you take a step forward."

Rei groaned.

"This guy..."

Luna watched Aaron quietly for a few seconds.

Finally she said,

"If you slow the team down outside the walls, no one will protect you it's just how expedition works."

Aaron nodded.

"That sounds fair."

Luna gave a small nod and turned away.

Rei stared at Aaron in disbelief.

"Brother Aaron... you just had a conversation with the coldest girl in the academy and you're acting like you discussed the weather."

Aaron chuckled.

"What did you expect me to do?"

Rei opened his mouth, then gave up.

Meanwhile, inside Aaron's mind, the system suddenly responded.

Ding.

A new panel appeared.

[Beginner Team Registration Complete]

[Reward detected]

[Reward: Beginner Hunter Dagger (Common)]

Upon registering, the bureau had access to every student primary system interface ID, allowing them to disburse beginner weapons to each of everyone inventory.

Then, Aaron's weapon materialized quietly inside the storage space provided by the system.

Before Aaron could examine it, the familiar message appeared.

[Reward amplification activated]

[Weapon evolution in progress...]

[Enhancement: ??? ]

A faint chill ran through Aaron's spine.

Because he could feel the dagger changing.

Not multiplying.

Evolving.

The system's final message appeared.

[You have obtained: Frostfang Hunter Dagger.]

Aaron's eyes narrowed slightly.

However, it seemed the real surprises of this world were only just beginning.
