Chapter 19 - Fixing It

Night fell heavy over the Jeon estate.

The lanterns along the corridors flickered softly, shadows stretching long across the polished wooden floors. Jungkook stood still in his room, listening. One breath. Two. Three.

Nothing.

He moved quietly, checking the door, the window, the walls—every possible place where eyes might be watching. Only when he was certain did he pull his cloak tighter around himself.

"I'm sorry," he whispered to the empty room—not to the walls, but to the fate he was about to challenge.

With practiced ease, Jungkook climbed over the wall once more. This time, there was no hesitation. No thrill. Only urgency.

His feet hit the ground, and he ran.

Branches scraped against his arms, breath burning in his chest as he pushed himself harder than ever before. He didn't stop until the familiar lights of the meeting place came into view.

Taehyung was the first to notice him.

"Jungkook—?" His voice faltered when he saw his expression. "What happened?"

Jungkook barely had time to catch his breath. "They know."

The words landed heavily.

Namjoon straightened immediately. "Know what?"

"Everything," Jungkook said. His hands were shaking now. "The nights. The lies. Yoongi covering for me."

Jimin stepped closer. "What about Yoongi?"

Jungkook swallowed. "He was captured."

Silence crashed down around them.

Hoseok's voice came out tight. "Captured… how?"

"My family," Jungkook said, voice breaking despite his effort to stay strong. "They called it treason. They said he betrayed the heir."

Taehyung's face went pale. "Jungkook…"

"They're going to kill him," Jungkook said.

The words felt unreal even as he spoke them.

Seokjin cursed under his breath. Namjoon clenched his jaw, fists tightening at his sides.

Taehyung stepped forward and grabbed Jungkook's shoulders. "Look at me."

Jungkook met his eyes—and for the first time since the vision, fear fully surfaced.

"I saw it," Jungkook whispered. "I saw him die. Defending me. I can't let that happen. I won't."

Jimin shook his head. "You can't just fight the Jeon Clan. They'll destroy you."

"I don't care," Jungkook snapped, then stopped himself, breathing hard. "I'll stop it. Somehow."

Hoseok looked between them. "You're serious."

"This isn't about sneaking out anymore," Jungkook said quietly. "This is about choosing who I become."

Taehyung didn't let go of him. His voice was low, steady—but fierce. "Then you won't do it alone."

Jungkook looked at him sharply. "Tae—"

"I don't care what the clans think anymore," Taehyung continued. "If they touch Yoongi because of you, then they answer to all of us."

The others nodded.

"We're with you," Seokjin said firmly.

Namjoon added, "If this is fate… then let's break it."

Jungkook's chest tightened. For a moment, he couldn't speak.

"I don't know how to fix this," he admitted. "I don't even know if I can."

Taehyung rested his forehead against Jungkook's. "Then we'll figure it out together."

The wind rustled through the trees, carrying with it the weight of everything unsaid.

Jungkook closed his eyes.

This wasn't a dream anymore. This wasn't borrowed memories.

This was real. And once he chose this path—

There would be no turning back.
