Yugito Nii, the Jinchūriki of the Two-Tails, didn't have many appearances in the original story. Compared to Killer Bee, the Eight-Tails Jinchūriki of Kumogakure, her role was relatively limited.
She barely appeared in the early storyline, and when she resurfaced later, she was already targeted by the Akatsuki. After a brief confrontation, her Tailed Beast was extracted, leading directly to her death. If that were all, it would have been tragic enough but even her corpse was later manipulated and used as a weapon.
It seemed that very few Jinchūriki in this world ever had a good ending…
"Answer me! Who are you?! A shinobi from another nation?!"
Yugito Nii held a kunai tightly, her sharp gaze locked onto chinatsu. On the surface, chinatsu looked calm, but inwardly she was already drenched in cold sweat.
chinatsu: How am I supposed to deal with someone this direct?!
In a normal situation, chinatsu only had two choices.
One fight head-on.
But realistically… she would most likely die.
Two run away.
But against a Jinchūriki? She'd probably still die.
Never underestimate a Jinchūriki. Anyone capable of synchronizing with a Tailed Beast's chakra was, at minimum, operating on a level comparable to Kage-tier combatants. chinatsu placed herself at jōnin level at best and right now she was facing something far beyond that.
This wasn't even a fair fight.
But fate, for once, seemed to be playing a strange game in her favor.
The headband she had just picked up… might actually save her life.
If not for that, chinatsu would've suspected her "transmigrator luck" stat had somehow maxed out.
…Although, considering how she died in her previous life, that theory didn't exactly hold up.
chinatsu's cheek twitched slightly, but she quickly forced herself to focus.
Her current problem was right in front of her Yugito Nii.
"We're on the same side! Same side! Don't attack!"
chinatsu hurriedly pulled out the Kumogakure headband from her pouch and raised it.
Yugito's eyes dropped to the headband.
Silence followed.
But the killing intent didn't disappear.
"You're from Kumogakure too? Name. Unit. You have three seconds."
"......"
chinatsu's expression almost cracked on the spot.
This script was wrong!
Shouldn't she at least hesitate longer before interrogating like this?!
Name… unit… THREE SECONDS?!
chinatsu: If I say I forgot, will you believe me?
Yugito: Do I look stupid?
The silence lasted less than three seconds.
Then Yugito moved.
Tailed Beast chakra surged, coating her kunai in blazing blue flames. The air seemed to distort from the heat.
A flash
A streak of blue light
A strand of black hair drifted down slowly.
The kunai had stopped just a centimeter from chinatsu's neck.
Did Yugito miss?
Of course not.
chinatsu had barely dodged.
Lightning flickered faintly across her body she had activated the Lightning Release body-enhancement technique she had copied earlier from the Kumogakure envoy during the Hyūga incident.
It wasn't exactly the Raikage's Lightning Armor, but it was a simplified version enough to boost reaction speed and physical movement.
That single instant… saved her life.
Yugito narrowed her eyes slightly.
Lightning Release… and not a crude imitation either.
This technique was characteristic of Kumogakure shinobi.
Other villages rarely used it in this way.
Could it be… she really is one of ours?
That thought flickered through Yugito's mind.
She didn't even consider the possibility of the Sharingan.
After all, the Uchiha Clan had already been massacred only two survivors remained, both children. There was no way Konoha would allow such a bloodline to wander outside the village.
After a brief internal struggle, Yugito's hostility lessened slightly.
If chinatsu knew what just happened, she'd definitely sigh: overthinking is terrifying…
If Yugito had been more straightforward, she would've attacked again without hesitation.
But overanalysis had created hesitation.
And that hesitation… was chinatsu's lifeline.
chinatsu immediately noticed the shift.
Her eyes flickered.
Then
Actor mode activated.
Her body swayed slightly as she raised a hand to her forehead, her expression turning pale.
"I… don't remember clearly… I think I'm from Kumogakure… My head hurts… whenever I try to think, it feels like it's splitting…"
Her voice trembled weakly.
Perfect delivery.
A textbook "injured amnesiac."
Yugito's brows furrowed slightly.
Doubt remained but it was no longer absolute.
Seeing the hesitation deepen, chinatsu decisively added more fuel to the fire.
Drawing from every melodrama she had ever seen, she let her body tilt forward
A perfect faint.
Just before she hit the ground
A pair of arms caught her.
"I may have been too cautious," Yugito said, her tone softening slightly. "The situation has been tense lately. If you were injured during a mission and lost your memory, it's understandable."
She adjusted her grip, supporting chinatsu.
"Don't worry. Once we return to the village, your identity can be verified."
chinatsu's face showed gratitude.
Her heart, however, was screaming.
Please don't verify anything!!!
Still… she had survived.
Barely.
Anything was better than fighting a fully awakened Jinchūriki here.
"…Thank you for understanding."
chinatsu smiled gently.
Yugito froze.
Her hands loosened slightly
chinatsu dropped.
Thud.
Silence.
Yugito covered her mouth lightly, her expression turning… complicated.
No way…
Now that she looked closely…
This girl was ridiculously cute.
