Third person's pov
The blindfold came off.
Jade squeezed his eyes shut as light flooded his vision, burning after what felt like hours in complete darkness. He blinked repeatedly until the blurred silhouette before him slowly came into focus.
A woman stood a few feet away, watching him with an easy smile that felt completely out of place.
"Hello, Jade."
Her voice was warm, almost welcoming.
His throat tightened.
"Who... who are you?"
She laughed softly.
"I was actually about to ask you the same question."
She walked toward him with slow, measured steps before crouching so they were eye level.
"So tell me, Jade. Who are you?"
He frowned, unsure what she meant.
"I'm... Jade."
"No." She shook her head. "That's your name. I asked who you are."
He stared at her, confused.
"I don't understand."
