Chapter 10 - Operation Drug Rush (1)

Missio's hair caught the wind as he approached the ground. Nearing the trees, he tugged at the wire and a parachute shot out from his backpack, breaking his fall. The others also released their parachutes and dragged themselves towards an open clearing.

Their feet crashed into the muddy ground, leaves rustling between the treetops as their parachutes landed on the damp floor. The group took off their parachutes, throwing them under a tree where they would retrieve it later.

Missio gathered the team in a circle and raised his hands.

"Remember the plan." He whispered. "I go for the boss, Eira and Mary find the stock of drugs and Krishna and Henry hold off the addicts."

"Understood." The team responded in a hushed voice.

They all pulled out their guns except for Missio who unsheathed his katana. Spinning around, they scanned their surroundings and they traversed the damp forest, leaving behind footprints. Finally, they glimpsed at the abandoned warehouse. Inching close, they touched the rusty metallic wall.

The metal was pretty worn down and ancient, barely surviving the rain.

Henry pressed his ear. The next second, the earbud morphed into a pair of dark-rimmed glasses. Henry activated the heat-vision and saw many illusive figures crowded in a single room. Locking eyes with his captain, he turned off the heat-vision and spoke.

"Looks like they're gathering in one room." He whispered.

Missio narrowed his gleaming red eyes. His vision shifted as the world's colors reversed. His eyes pierced the walls, allowing him to see the skeletons of the drug lord's men gathering in a single room.

He turned his head, looking for any strays. In the corner of the building, he saw a few skeletons, seeming holding something and walking around a room as if they were protecting something.

'That's probably the drugs…'

He scanned the area more, trying to find anyone else. And then, he saw it. A singular frail skeleton lying down in the centermost room of the abandoned building.

However, that was not what caught Missio's eyes.

He could sense the figure's power – his will that saturated every part of his being. A realization dawned on him that they severely underestimated what they were going against. He finally understood why the Police couldn't catch a single man for five years.

Switching his vision back to normal, he lowered his head and mumbled to his team.

"This is bad…"

Mary raised a brow, gripping his weapon.

"What happened?"

Missio lifted his head, locking eyes with his team.

"If my eyes aren't lying to me… one of them is a Chaos incarnate."

Henry, Eira and Mary froze in terror. Krishna frowned, his brows furrowing. Just then, Eira yelped in a low voice.

"How is that possible? He's a rogue?"

"Possibly…" Missio replied. "Maybe that's why the Police couldn't catch him… Stick to the plan, I'll knock him out before he can use his attribute."

They nodded in agreement without any hesitation.

Krishna led the charge, jolting up from his position. The rest rushed behind him, nearing the main entrance. An old lock shackled the entrance. Eira stepped forward, firing a bullet and breaking the lock. The door swung open and the team entered stealthily.

They moved through the dark hallway and arrived near a room from which music was blasting.

'Seems like they're partying…'

Krishna' grin widened as he stopped near the door. Henry halted behind him as well. Missio, Eira and Mary passed them, heading towards the other rooms.

As Krishna and Henry took a moment to rest, something struck the walls and the sound rung through the building. It didn't stop, continuing until it became a downpour. The sound of the rain striking the cold metal created a melody that sent a chill down the spines of the enforcers.

Krishna smirked and put on his mask.

"Begin, Operation Drug Rush."

Henry did the same and stood up. Krishna mirrored his movements, raising his leg and striking the door with all his might.

The people inside instantly stopped dancing, the DJ paused the music as the eerie silence took over the crowd.

"What was that?" Someone blurted.

However, they would soon get their answer as the next second, the door swung open.

Two men stood at the forefront of the crowd, masks covering their face. Krishna and Henry simultaneously loaded their guns and pointed them at the people.

The individuals froze in terror as the sight of such lethal artillery. Then, Krishna drew a sharp breath and shouted a single order.

"GET DOWN!"

Missio, Eira and Mary rushed through the corridor. As they ran, Missio suddenly stopped and raised his hand, pointing a door.

"That's their stock. Go"

Eira and Mary nodded.

"Yes, sir."

Missio didn't reply and headed off.

The girls flicked their heads to the side. Assessing the door they found it wasn't even locked. Eira crouched near the entrance, peeking through a small opening. From her vision, she saw four individuals talking to each other. Eira turned back to Mary and raised four of her fingers. Understanding what she was trying to tell, Mary nodded and raised her rifle.

Eira stood up as well and stepped back. Mary rammed into the door, swinging it open. Eira raised her gun in advance, pointing it at the people on the other side. A look of shock appeared on the minions as they turned their eyes towards the girls. Eira fired off a shot. The bullet missed but caused the men to fall to their knees, covering their ears in pain.

Using that split-second, Mary rushed forward and struck one of the guards with her rifle. Using all her might, the man was knocked out. As another girl tried to lift her head, Eira stomped on her back and pinned her to the ground. The girl choked and fell to the ground.

Mary held her gun at the remaining guards, her finger hovering above the trigger.

"Move and someone will die."

The guards filled with fear, obeyed her command. Eira then, called out to Mary.

"Now, Let–?"

However, as Mary turned to face her, one of the guards took that opportunity and threw a knife at Eira.

Her eyes dilated as she stepped back. As the knife darted past her eyes, the girl who she was pressing on, swept her off her feet. Eira began falling but fortunately caught herself in time. The girl gritted her teeth, twisting her body to try and kick Eira in the head.

Suddenly, a gunshot rang and the next second, a painful scream resounded throughout the room. The girl froze in shock, her feet inches away from Eira's face. The enforcer caught herself and rolled over. Back on her feet, she lifted her head and saw blood splattered across the floor.

"Mary?" She blurted.

Turning her head, she saw that her coworker had shot one of the men in the leg.
