Chapter 54 - When You Forgot Me , I Fell Again

Season 2 — Chapter 4: The Night She Broke

The ride back home was quiet.

Lina sat beside Adrian, her hands resting on her lap.

Her mind replayed what just happened.

Marcus.

His men.

The sudden appearance of Adrian.

She glanced at him quietly.

He was driving calmly.

But she could see the tension in his jaw.

He was angry.

Very angry.

"Adrian…"

He glanced at her briefly.

"Yes?"

"You didn't have to follow me."

He didn't answer immediately.

"I wanted to."

Her heart skipped slightly.

She looked away.

The silence returned.

When they arrived home, Adrian immediately called Lucas.

"I want double security."

Lucas sounded serious.

"Understood."

"And assign two guards to Lina."

Lina frowned.

"That's too much."

Adrian shook his head.

"No."

She sighed.

"Adrian—"

His voice softened slightly.

"Please."

She stayed silent.

Then nodded.

"Okay."

That evening…

Lina sat in the living room reading a book.

But she couldn't focus.

Her mind kept drifting.

Adrian walked in quietly.

He sat across from her.

"You didn't eat much at dinner."

She looked up.

"I'm not hungry."

He frowned.

"You need to eat."

"I'm fine."

He sighed softly.

"Lina…"

She looked at him.

"Yes?"

"Are you still… afraid?"

She hesitated.

"A little."

He leaned slightly forward.

"I won't let anything happen to you."

Her heart trembled.

She quickly looked down.

"Thank you."

Silence stretched.

Then—

Suddenly the lights flickered.

Lina looked up.

"What happened?"

The lights went out.

Darkness filled the room.

Her heart jumped.

"Adrian…?"

"I'm here."

His voice sounded calm.

She felt his hand gently hold hers.

Her breathing slowed slightly.

Then—

Outside—

A loud noise echoed.

Like something hitting the gate.

Adrian's expression changed immediately.

He stood up.

"Stay here."

"No—"

She grabbed his hand instinctively.

He looked at her.

She realized what she did.

But she didn't let go.

"I'm coming with you."

He hesitated.

Then nodded.

"Stay close."

They walked toward the window.

Outside—

Several black cars stood near the gate.

Lina's heart pounded.

"Marcus…"

Adrian's eyes turned cold.

Just then—

Lucas rushed in.

"Boss."

"Report."

"Marcus's men are outside."

Lina's fingers tightened.

"What do they want?"

Lucas answered—

"They're not attacking… just watching."

Adrian frowned.

"Watching?"

Lucas nodded.

"Looks like intimidation."

Adrian's jaw tightened.

"This bastard…"

Lina felt uneasy.

"Will they leave?"

Lucas nodded.

"Eventually."

Adrian looked at Lina.

"Let's go upstairs."

She nodded.

Later that night…

Lina couldn't sleep again.

The incident unsettled her.

She sat quietly on the bed.

Then—

A knock sounded.

"Come in."

Adrian entered.

"You're still awake."

She nodded.

"I can't sleep."

He walked closer.

"Same."

Silence filled the room.

Then—

He sat beside her.

"Lina…"

She looked at him.

"Yes?"

"I'm sorry."

She frowned.

"For what?"

"For everything."

Her chest tightened.

"You don't need to—"

"I do."

His voice was soft.

"I should've protected you better."

She shook her head.

"You did."

He looked at her.

"Did I?"

She nodded slowly.

"You saved me… that night."

His eyes softened.

"But I don't remember."

She smiled faintly.

"I remember."

Their eyes met.

The distance between them slowly faded.

Then—

She whispered softly—

"I was scared today."

His hand gently held hers.

"I'm here."

Her fingers tightened slightly.

She didn't pull away.

Instead—

She leaned slightly toward him.

Without realizing.

He gently pulled her closer.

Her head rested against his chest.

His heartbeat felt steady.

Warm.

Safe.

Her eyes slowly closed.

"I missed this…"

She whispered unconsciously.

Adrian froze.

His heart pounded.

"Lina…"

But she had already fallen asleep.

In his arms.

Adrian looked down at her.

A soft smile appeared.

Carefully—

He lifted her gently.

Placed her on the bed.

Then covered her with a blanket.

He brushed her hair softly.

"I'm not letting you go again…"

He whispered.

But outside—

In the darkness—

A black car remained parked.

Inside—

Marcus watched the mansion quietly.

His lips curved into a cold smile.

"Let's see how long you can protect her… Adrian."

And just like that—

The real battle began.
