Chapter 53 - When You Forgot Me , I Fell Again

Season 2 — Chapter 3: The First Crack

The night felt unusually quiet.

Lina sat on the bed in the guest room, unable to sleep.

Her eyes stared at the ceiling, but her mind was elsewhere.

Memories.

So many memories.

Adrian's smile.

His coldness.

Their arguments.

Their laughter.

And then—

The accident.

Her chest tightened.

She slowly turned to her side.

This room felt unfamiliar.

Cold.

Empty.

She missed their bedroom.

Missed him.

But she forced herself to stay still.

She needed distance.

She needed time.

Meanwhile, downstairs…

Adrian stood by the window in his study.

His phone was still in his hand.

Lucas's words echoed in his mind.

"Marcus is targeting Mrs. Harrison."

His expression darkened.

He picked up his phone.

"Lucas."

"Yes, boss."

"I want full protection around Lina."

"Already arranged."

"And track Marcus closely."

"Understood."

Adrian ended the call.

He exhaled slowly.

Then—

He walked out of the study.

His steps quiet.

He stopped outside the guest room.

He stared at the closed door.

His hand lifted slightly.

Then lowered again.

He turned around.

And walked away.

Morning came quietly.

Lina woke up early.

She walked downstairs.

To her surprise—

Adrian was already in the kitchen.

Cooking.

She froze slightly.

He noticed her.

"You're awake."

She nodded.

"Yes."

He placed a plate on the table.

"Breakfast."

She hesitated.

"You didn't have to."

He shrugged lightly.

"I wanted to."

She sat down quietly.

The atmosphere felt awkward.

She took a bite.

It tasted familiar.

Memories flashed again.

She quickly looked away.

Adrian watched her quietly.

After a moment—

He spoke softly.

"How are you feeling?"

"I'm okay."

He nodded.

Silence returned.

Then—

Her phone rang.

She looked at the screen.

Unknown number.

She answered.

"Hello?"

A familiar voice spoke.

"Lina."

Her expression stiffened.

"Emily."

Adrian's eyes immediately darkened.

Emily spoke calmly.

"I heard you're out of the hospital."

Lina frowned.

"Why are you calling?"

"I just wanted to check on you."

Lina stayed cold.

"I'm fine."

Emily paused.

"Be careful."

Lina frowned.

"Why?"

Emily's voice lowered.

"Marcus is moving."

Lina glanced at Adrian.

"We already know."

Emily sounded surprised.

"Oh… Adrian told you?"

Lina didn't answer.

Emily continued—

"Then you should know… he's planning something big."

"What?"

Emily hesitated.

"I don't know yet… but…"

Her voice turned serious.

"Stay close to Adrian."

The call ended.

Lina lowered the phone slowly.

Adrian looked at her.

"What did she say?"

"Marcus is planning something."

Adrian frowned.

"She's telling us the same thing."

Lina nodded.

"Do you trust her?"

Adrian shook his head.

"No."

"But…"

He paused.

"We shouldn't ignore it either."

Lina agreed.

"Right."

Later that day…

Lina decided to go outside.

She needed fresh air again.

Adrian insisted on sending security.

She didn't argue.

She went to a nearby bookstore.

The quiet atmosphere calmed her slightly.

She walked through the shelves slowly.

But suddenly—

She felt someone watching her.

Her heart skipped.

She turned.

A tall man stood near the entrance.

Wearing a black coat.

He looked suspicious.

Lina felt uneasy.

She quickly walked toward the exit.

But as she stepped outside—

A car suddenly stopped in front of her.

Her heart jumped.

The door opened.

The same man stepped out.

"Mrs. Harrison."

She stepped back.

"What do you want?"

The man smiled slightly.

"Mr. Blake wants to meet you."

Her chest tightened.

"I'm not interested."

She turned to leave.

But the man blocked her path.

"Please cooperate."

Her heart pounded.

Just then—

Another car stopped nearby.

Adrian stepped out.

His expression cold.

"Move."

His voice was dangerous.

The man froze.

Adrian walked toward Lina.

He grabbed her hand gently.

"You okay?"

She nodded.

"Yes."

Adrian looked at the man.

"Tell Marcus…"

His voice turned icy.

"Stay away from my wife."

The man hesitated.

Then left.

Lina exhaled slowly.

"How did you know?"

Adrian answered calmly.

"I followed you."

She frowned.

"You didn't trust me?"

He looked at her.

"I trust you."

Then added softly—

"I don't trust them."

Her heart softened slightly.

But she quickly looked away.

"Thank you."

He nodded.

"Let's go home."

As they walked back—

Lina didn't realize…

This was only the beginning.

And soon—

The distance between them…

Would begin to crack.
