Kira walked out of the mansion while staring at the moon overhead, the fact that she could now see everything clearly even though it was night still puzzled her.
"How many warewolves are actually out there? And how many packs? I've never seen or heard of one before" Kira asked without turning around.
"There aren't many warewolves out there, turning humans to warewolves can only be done by the Alpha or the bishops using a ritual by midnight." Yuki replied while walking forward.
"The warewolves were created by a curse from the moon goddess, to create more without the permission of the Alpha would require making a sacrifice to the goddess herself. And there's only one Alpha on Aetherion."
"Only one? Then what are you?" Kira asked with raised eyebrows.
"Two currently with me I guess."
"And the warewolves live in a settlement east of the continent, they don't go out unless for important matters delegated by the Alpha himself. Their existence is a secret so it's pretty normal you don't know much about them."
"Ohh, that makes some sense then, what's with the whole curse stuff though?" Kira asked with a curious look on her face.
"I don't know the details but after the first warewolf was cursed, he became the first Alpha and all warewolves would feel a deep attraction to the moon at midnight and howl to it, it's somewhat like a dog begging for it's masters attention if you think about it." Yuki explained while looking at the moon up ahead.
"It doesn't seem that harmful though, a lot of people would willingly do it for the power granted to warewolves."
"Who knows what the moon goddess was thinking when she gave him the curse...."
"Wait! How many wolves have red eyes like yours?" Kira asked when she remembered the question that lingered in her mind.
When she looked into the mirror, her eyes were pure white while Yuki's were red, she was
"Red eyes? Only one other warewolf on the continent has red eyes, Beta wolves have blue eyes while Omega wolves have yellow eyes, only Alpha's have red eyes." Yuki replied making Kira freeze in shock.
"So you mean only the other Alpha has deep red eyes like yours?"
"Yes, why are you asking?" Yuki asked with his head tilted.
"Ten years ago my mother was killed by a man with deep red eyes." Kira replied while staring at Yuki.
"It doesn't necessarily mean it's him, humans also have red eyes."
"No I could feel it, the same way those eyes stared at me back then only your eyes gave me the same feeling" she said while looking into Yuki's eyes.
"Or is there another unknown Alpha or race with red eyes on the continent?" Kira asked.
"None I know of."
Kira turned around while clenching her fists. "That explains it, the reason father stopped searching for mother's killer, it must've been him."
"You wanted revenge right?" Kira asked while looking at Yuki.
"Revenge? Uncle Nyx never did anything to me, at least none I know of, why would I want revenge? Besides you're not even sure if Uncle Nyx is the reason your mother died and even if it's him you can't do anything about it now, you can't even transform at will yet, you'll be fodder." Yuki replied then continued walking ahead leaving Kira behind.
"Where are we going to?" Kira asked while following behind Yuki.
"We're not going anywhere"
"Then what are we doing?" Kira asked with a puzzled look on her face.
"Stalling for time till it's midnight, what's the time now?" Yuki asked while looking up at the moon.
Kira removed her phone from her pocket and replied "11:43pm"
"It's almost midnight, just a bit more."
"What exactly am I going to do when it's midnight?" Kira asked while feeling confused.
"There's a ritual the bishops perform for those who can't transform willingly by midnight to help them transform."
"Ohh--" Kira replied while walking ahead, raising her head to look at the moon.
"Wait, can you perform the ritual??" Kira suddenly asked while looking at the seemingly calm Yuki.
"I never involved myself with things like that so I don't know how to do it." He replied calmly making Kira feel like punching a hole in his face.
"Don't worry though, an Alpha's howl is way better than a ritual from the bishops, besides I don't believe a Luna will be unable to transform by midnight." He said then looked up at the moon.
"It's time."
Kira raised her head and looked at the moon suddenly feeling a strange sense if attraction like she couldn't keep her eyes away from the moon, "What... Is that?" She asked when the moon suddenly turned blood red in her sight, somehow the sight felt familiar to her.
"I think I've seen this before...."
"Remember what I told you Kira, try to focus on your body, how you're feeling or we'll keep repeating this till you can get it." She heard Yuki's voice beside her and turned around to see him standing beside a tree with arms folded.
The next moment, her body started cracking snd she felt like her bones were breaking apart, she gritted her teeth in pain trying to stay conscious but the next moment she passed out.

Opening her eyes, she saw Yuki sitting beside a tree nearby staring at her.
"You're up"
"How long was I out for?" Kira asked.
"I don't know, honestly"
"Did it work? I don't think it did, I don't feel different." Kira asked while looking at her body.
"You're not supposed to feel different, you're supposed to remember the feeling while transforming and you passed out midway so it failed." Yuki replied.
"What do we do then? Repeat it again?" Kira asked remembering the feeling of having her bones break apart inside her body, she didn't want to feel that again.
"We'll have to do it again, till you can get it."
