Minutes turned into hours as I impatiently paced back and forth in my chamber room. The reports weren't coming as fast as I intended it to. The elders decided on masking the gateway to our pack from humans, which meant using specialists to deter humans away and make it almost impossible to find the gateway again.
These were people with ancient knowledge about our pack. Even the elders feared them and met with them as a last resort.
I did not quite understand how it was going to work, but it required heavy labour, intense grafting and sharp precision. Probably, a few spells and rituals.
Hours went by without updates until the good news came walking in with shaky legs and muddy boots.
The humans had given up searching. It wasn't the last time we were going to see them but it was good news that the Elders' plans work. Nobody could be able to find it again except they possessed the senses of a wolf.
My relief was short-lived as I had other things to worry about.
