Kael's POV.
"Elara, Elara," I called out, but I got no response.
Was I too late to save her? All I asked for was a second more to set everything right, to get here sooner to save her. The two bodies lay lifeless before me, but I cradle Elara's like a child, tapping her to get a slight reaction.
I can't even connect with her mind. My heart races in fear. What was this feeling of emptiness, like I had fallen from the sky and sunk down the Earth's core.
"Elara," I called out again but no response. How is it possible? I thought I snapped Enoch's neck before he could take her life. "Please wake up,"
I shut my eyes and place my head on her forehead as I pull her in for a tight embrace. I had lost her. I had lost the reason why I wanted to stay in this hell, I had lost the lady who defied the laws of my pack and…
"K… Ka… Kael," she suddenly coughs, grasping for breath.
