Being held as a prisoner used for nothing more than experimentation for an entire year was definitely not something I had ever planned for. I had thought that becoming the Lycan Alpha, the overall ruler of the territories across the werewolf realm, was enough to guarantee me a full life. Find my mate. Be happy. Build something worth protecting. But no. I had been cornered by my own brother, trapped, and handed over into the human world. Only the Moon Goddess knew whether he had a direct hand in how I ended up in this mess.
But this was not the time to sit in those thoughts. Because at this point, even if I were forced to return to my role as Lycan Alpha, I would not go without Elara. She was all I had. Every morning I woke up and remembered that she would be coming to see me, that she would walk through that door and tell me everything going on in her life, and it gave me a reason to breathe through another day. I would not let anything happen to her.
