Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: A Rainstorm is Coming, the Experience Dungeon Will Open

Zachary Pierce was surprised. "Dungeons? You're saying this ocean survival game has Dungeons?"

Faye Yardley found his reaction strange. "It's pretty normal for games to have Dungeons, right? If it's not a solo Dungeon but one where you can team up, could you carry me, Mr. Pierce?"

'There was nothing she could do about it. Even if Faye Yardley considered herself lucky, her actual strength was what it was. There was no way to get a massive boost all at once.'

'What if she ended up in a Dungeon where she had to kill monsters to level up? Was she just supposed to stand at the entrance and wait to die?'

'Others might not know, but since a supporting character from the book she remembered—one who was just as exceptional as the male lead—was already on her friends list, why wouldn't she make good use of him?'

"Alright, I agree."

As he said this, Zachary Pierce also sent over what supplies he could give.

After accepting the items, Faye Yardley obtained [wood x24, iron block x25, Crystal x3, Four-Piece Bedding Set Blueprint x1].

'What a haul! I've really hit the jackpot this time.'

'Based on the crafting cost, isn't this like trading one Iron Axe for twelve?'

'Not to mention, he also gave me the materials for a High Level Fish Spear.'

"System, craft High Level Fish Spear x2 and Basic Iron Axe x2."

Soon, two gleaming High Level Fish Spears and two Iron Axes appeared on the workbench. Faye Yardley happily picked one of the spears up and gave it a few practice swings. 'Perfect. The weight and length are well-suited for my height, and the durability is a solid 300.'

'A weapon is better than no weapon. At least now I'm not completely defenseless.'

While she had the materials, she also crafted a Basic Wooden Bed.

Unfortunately, she didn't have enough materials for the four-piece set. There was nothing to be done about it, so she put the blueprint aside for now.

At least she had a bed to sleep on tonight. After checking the time and seeing it was almost 10:30 PM, Faye Yardley didn't bother with anything else and went straight to bed.

Her alarm went off right at 5:30 AM. Faye Yardley rubbed her body, a little stiff from sleeping on the wooden planks.

Stepping out of the Wooden House, she noticed the air outside felt colder than yesterday.

She opened the regional channel. Sure enough, it wasn't just her imagination.

[Damn, I'm freezing and my nose is running. This hellhole actually gets cold in the middle of the night.]

[Same here. My head's a little dizzy. When I go to fish for treasure chests, I hope I don't get so woozy that a chest ends up fishing *me* out instead, right?]

[So hungry... can some big shot take pity and give me something to eat? I'm a really good dancer, I'll do any dance you want.]

[Son of a bitch! Why is there a huge shark circling my raft? It's not attacking, but it just won't leave!]

[Come on, sun, come out! I'm so, so cold. I've always been sensitive to the cold; I can't function when it's freezing.]

The chat was active, but Faye Yardley felt a surge of panic. 'Sharks are already appearing during the grace period? The fact that they aren't actively attacking is probably the survival system's way of protecting new players.'

Although she carefully scanned her surroundings and saw no large marine creatures, she was still afraid.

After a moment of thought, she posted a message in the channel as well.

[Faye Yardley: Everyone should try to get as many chests as possible today to upgrade their rafts and build shelters like a Wooden House. We should trade materials tonight if needed. Also, does anyone have a torch or Fire Pit? I'm willing to trade for blueprints or the items themselves.]

[Hey, Faye Yardley, does a shelter appear automatically after you upgrade your raft?]

Many others asked similar questions, but Faye Yardley had already gone silent.

'Giving them a reminder to upgrade their rafts and build shelters early was the most she was willing to do.'

'The fact that she didn't use her foreknowledge to make a killing was a testament to her good upbringing.'

She took out her only egg-filled pancake and sat on the deck at the edge of the raft. With the wooden fence there, she wasn't afraid of falling in. She then took out her fishing rod and cast the line.

'It wasn't time for the treasure chests to spawn yet, but if I work a little harder, maybe I'll catch a fish?'

Fishing while she ate, Faye Yardley was in a reasonably good state of mind.

Maybe her Luck Value really was just that high. She had barely cast her line—not even two bites into her egg-filled pancake—when she felt the hook snag on something.

'Seriously? This system-made fishing rod is completely broken. It can actually catch something without any bait.'

She took a large bite of the pancake, quickly stowed it in her backpack, and gripped the fishing rod with both hands to start reeling it in.

Soon, she reeled in her first catch of the day. It was a horseshoe crab.

Faye Yardley stared at the washbasin-sized horseshoe crab, once again marveling at the wonders of this game world.

[Horseshoe Crab discovered. Can be broken down. Break down?]

"Yes."

[Obtained: Horseshoe Crab Meat x3, Horseshoe Crab Shell x1]

Faye Yardley took out the Horseshoe Crab Shell. 'This would make a pretty good large bowl or even a small pot,' she thought, 'which is perfect, since I don't have either.'

The sea was quiet after that, and Faye Yardley didn't catch anything else. However, as soon as the clock struck six, her sharp eyes spotted a Wooden Treasure Chest floating to her front left.

"Time to get to work!"

Faye Yardley went from full of energy to completely exhausted in just one morning. She couldn't believe that by noon, she had already collected 7 Wooden Treasure Chests, caught 2 fish, 1 crab, and a piece of seaweed.

'It's a shame I don't have a fire,' she thought. 'Otherwise, I'd definitely be trying some grilled crab, and I could make some fish soup, too.'

After hesitating for two seconds between opening the chests to eat or continuing to fish for more, she decided to keep fishing.

'Just three more chests, then I'll do a ten-pull!'

Just then, a system notification appeared.

[Dear players, a heavy downpour is approaching. Please make preparations for the rain and cold as soon as possible. To provide a better gaming experience for everyone, a one-time trial Dungeon will open at 8:00 PM tonight. Cherish your life, and enjoy the game!]

The reminder repeated three times—not just an audio cue, but a visual one as well. The notification was even bolded and pinned to the top of the public channel.

[Holy crap! "Cherish your life, and enjoy the game"? Bullshit! If you really want to cherish your life, you should stay the hell away from this game!]

[*Sob*... I just upgraded my raft to Level 2, but to build a tent, I need to get it to Level 3 first. This is so hard.]

[My raft is already Level 3, but I don't have any shelter blueprints! Fuck, this game is impossible.]

[What did everyone catch this morning? Anyone selling a house blueprint? I'll pay a high price.]

Faye Yardley watched for a moment before closing the channel. She decided to stick to her plan: get to ten treasure chests, then she would figure out the rest.

'Since the system announced rain, who knows how much longer I have before it starts pouring. I need to get back to fishing, fast!'
