"I was just thinking," Josie Quinn said, choosing her words carefully, "since you can create a catalyst that awakens superpowers, we can use it to expand our influence. More importantly, it gives more people a chance to survive. Even if we just save one more person, preserve one more ember of humanity… maybe in a few decades, or a hundred years, humanity won't be completely extinct. Maybe this world won't be entirely overrun by zombies and mutated monsters."
"You're right." Julian Ford nodded in agreement. He pulled her from behind him, settling her sideways on his lap. His arm wrapped naturally around her waist in an intimate, protective hold. "So, what do you want to do?"
