Josie Quinn's keen eyes swept over the corner of the corridor, catching the afterimage of a figure rapidly retreating.
It was a gaunt figure. They seemed startled by the sudden appearance of so many people in the dead-silent ruins and were trying to silently retreat into the deeper shadows. Once behind a broken wall, the figure immediately sped up, trying to escape.
"Someone's here!" Josie Quinn said in a low voice, instinctively moving to give chase.
"Josie, have them guard you. I'll go!"
Jude Sheffield was faster. Before his words even faded, his figure vanished from the spot like a phantom, leaving only a faint ripple of energy.
His "Blink" ability was uniquely suited for this kind of pursuit.
Josie Quinn suppressed the urge to follow and gave a cautious hand signal to the team members around her, then waited patiently.
