'We're going to die! We're going to drown!!'
Fear spread through the crowd in an instant.
'We're underground! We're underground!!'
The crowd suddenly went mad, everyone surging toward the doors in a frantic, uncoordinated push.
However, the heavy protective doors on each level had long been sealed to block out the heatwave outside, leaving not even a sliver of a gap.
The crowd shrieked madly, "Let us out!!"
Those closest to the doors were the first to throw themselves against them, screaming frantically.
The people behind them crushed forward, pushing with all their might. Then came those even further back, lunging ahead!
Like a line of dominoes, the crowd toppled toward the doors. In the blink of an eye, the people at the very front fell, and a stampede formed in an instant.
"Quiet! Everyone, be quiet!"
The soldiers on duty yelled themselves hoarse, but no matter how they screamed, even if they shredded their throats, no one paid them any mind.
