Chapter 10 - REMNANT: X, VANTIR

The only something we are supposed to do when we first cross the threshold of this life is to breathe.

So..

Breathe.. I say to myself, but being the helpless human I am, it seems that even that something is not possible for me right now.

My body refused to move even an inch.

One standing before me.

One standing behind me.

And both were Aerielle.

The girl in front of me me looked exhausted.

Strands of hair clung against her face unevenly as her eyes locked onto the other version of herself with something dangerously close to hatred.

The noise of the amusement park faded into something distant and hollow, like I had been submerged underwater. Lights blurred faintly at the edges of my vision while my thoughts struggled to catch up with what my eyes were seeing and what my ears were hearing.

As soon as I heard her screaming telling me to get down, My ears started ringing.

And so I did. I tucked both of my hands behind my head as I slipped downwards with my knees hitting the ground. Hard.

I saw her bare legs sprinting. My eyes widened as she ran towards me and wield a sword with both of her hands.

The sword glided past the figure behind me. And in turn, it crashed violently against a large glass display.

I stumbled backward instinctively, my heart hammering violently against my chest.

I stalled my vision in the direction of the broken glass before me, just some distance away.

This area has become dangerous with these many shards. The people would have gotten hurt pretty badly if there were any standing in front of it...

My heart throbbed faster as I came to realize my own thoughts.

Now hold on a moment...

How come there isn't anybody here? Wasn't there a whole crowd just running a moment ago?

Moreover..

Where are Kenny and Revin?

For goodness sake, why don't they ever listen-

" Oh don't you dare sit like a goddamn lifeless soul, Van. You have better things to do here. For example, getting your legs to move and helping me kill this sick devout."

I didn't have time to think.

"Wha- What? Me? Are you talking to me?"

How did she change so much? I literally just mumbled anything in my head,

" I am not as crazy as to talk with air-"

And then I saw Her. running. towards. the person. talking. to me.

I acted instinctively. I took a large shard in my hand and rushed towards her, screaming words at her. Telling her to move. She tilted her head slightly as if to listen.

Everything happened too quickly.

I jumped in front of her, and slit her throat with that piece of glass. I grunted in pain as I looked upon my hand, drenched in blood. She was laughing creepily and smiling wide.

" You...still haven't lost your touch of rushing things...in a pathetic way, I see.."

Aerielle landed harshly several feet ahead, one hand pressed against the ground as she struggled to breathe.

Still alive, huh?

"You... of all people.. were never supposed to survive long enough to meet her again."

She coughed up blood violently and her long hair fell in front of her face.

" Could you stop bestowing him with such crap? I don't need your assistance for making things harder for me and him." A voice talked gently behind me.

" Why.. don't you tell him already-"

Aerielle didn't utter a single word. She placed her hands on her sword once again, and held it.

And pushed it.

right.

through.

her.

chest.
