Beside the understatedly luxurious sofa, Zachary Fairchild stood silently to one side. His deep-set eyes were slightly narrowed, making it impossible to tell what he was thinking.
Olivia Wynne didn't know what the others were thinking, but being stared at so silently by Zachary Fairchild was unnerving.
She shifted closer to Mrs. Fairchild, her gaze fixed on a distant point, deliberately avoiding Zachary Fairchild's eyes.
Noticing Olivia's movement, Zachary let out a low chuckle. He crossed the space in two strides to stand by her and Mrs. Fairchild. "Dad's looking at you," the man said in a low voice.
At his words, Mrs. Fairchild immediately looked up, her eyes meeting the deep, cold gaze of Mr. Fairchild.
Mrs. Fairchild sheepishly released Olivia's arm and awkwardly shifted her body closer to Mr. Fairchild.
Sure enough, as Mr. Fairchild watched his wife's movement, the look in his eyes softened considerably.
