Getting him to actually fight with his precious girl, or to give her the cold shoulder, was simply impossible.
He walked to Yara Quillan's door and knocked. "Babe."
In a huff, Yara Quillan grabbed a shoe from beside her and hurled it at the door. She didn't understand why she was blowing up for no good reason, but she was just so frustrated. His attitude sparked an irritation in her she'd never felt before. "What are you doing here? I thought you were ignoring me!"
The shoe hit the door with a loud THUD. Henry Lester took out his key, let himself in, and glanced at the shoe on the floor. He picked it up, placed the comforter and pillows back on the bed, then knelt down and slipped the shoe back onto Yara Quillan's foot.
"Don't be mad. It pains me to see you get so worked up."
