What Phoebe Faulkner didn't expect was that Jace Lennox would actually bring her all the way to her company. Not only did he drop her off, he even got out of the car and entered the building's elevator with her.
It was just past seven in the morning, and since work started at nine, most employees hadn't arrived yet. Thus, the elevator was empty except for Phoebe Faulkner and Jace Lennox.
Phoebe Faulkner stood in the elevator, her heart pounding uneasily. She couldn't figure out what Jace Lennox was thinking.
She fidgeted slightly, and after a moment, looked up at Jace Lennox. "Mr. Lennox, I remember what you said. I'm not a child anymore. You don't have to go out of your way to bring me to work, and you definitely don't need to see me upstairs."
Jace Lennox glanced at Phoebe Faulkner. "I work here, too."
"What?"
The shock was written all over Phoebe Faulkner's face.
Jace Lennox said nothing more on the matter.
Phoebe Faulkner lowered her head again.
