"Hmm."
Jace grunted in acknowledgment.
Phoebe Faulkner had thought Jace Lennox would have more to say. But he really did just grunt and showed no intention of speaking further. 'What does that even mean?'
'And did he even hear what I just said about wanting to keep a low profile?'
Phoebe Faulkner couldn't read any expression on Jace Lennox's face, couldn't decipher anything at all.
Seeing that Jace Lennox had no intention of speaking, Phoebe Faulkner could only eat in silence. Internally, however, she couldn't help but curse him out again. 'This man is so strange. When you provoke him, he becomes cold and menacing, which is terrifying. But when you don't, he's so aloof you can't get near him at all.'
After dinner, Jace Lennox went upstairs.
As usual, Phoebe Faulkner was responsible for washing the dishes and cleaning the house.
