After her call with Jace Lennox, Phoebe Faulkner let out a sigh of relief. It was only then that she remembered he had unceremoniously hauled her back last night. Chad and Howie had gotten a beating from Jace for trying to stop him, and she had no idea how they were doing.
Her phone had been sold by some thug, and she couldn't remember Chad's or Howie's numbers. Her only option was to call Kitty and ask her to check on them.
"Hey, Kitty, where are you right now? Can you call Chad and ask where he and Howie are?"
She couldn't figure out what Jace Lennox was thinking, but she knew one thing for sure: it was best not to go looking for Chad and Howie herself.
"You stinker, Phoebe! You finally called me! We were on the phone yesterday when you suddenly went silent and hung up. I thought something had happened to you!" Kitty's energetic voice came through the receiver.
