The hospital room was large. Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows was a typical Odenburg, Skadlandic view—old buildings with red-brick pointed roofs, a quietly flowing canal, and the spire of a distant church. Sunlight filtered in through white gauze curtains, casting a soft filter over the room.
