The neon lights at the entrance of Skyline were still flashing, red and blue, illuminating the concrete ground in alternating bursts.
Leo Lennox was supporting the weight of Jett Westgate with one side of his body.
"Jett."
He didn't answer. He had clearly reached his limit.
Leo freed a hand to take off the baseball cap on Jett's head.
The brim was pulled down too low. He'd been like that in the private room earlier, hiding half his face, not looking at anyone but Annelise Valentine. And yet, he'd downed bottle after bottle of alcohol.
Leo hooked his fingers under the brim and lifted it. His movements were gentle, but he still felt Jett Westgate's brow twitch.
When the cap came off, a small, deep red spot could be seen bleeding through the gauze on his head.
Leo stared at the spot for two seconds.
"Jett, that was too reckless today. You shouldn't have been drinking."
"It's nothing. Let's head back to Aethelgard first."
