Annelise Valentine passed through the side corridor and into the lights of the winding-down party, leaving Jett Westgate alone by the pool, his eyes red.
The party in the front courtyard was nearing its end. Only the bottom few tiers of the champagne tower remained, and the tables held leftover, cold pastries.
"Sis!"
Kian Miller, Leo Lennox, and Hugo Summers were standing by the champagne tower, clearly having waited for a while.
Seeing her approach alone, her eyes red and her expression off, Kian Miller's smile vanished. "Sis, what's wrong? Where's Jett?"
Annelise Valentine stopped in her tracks.
SLAP. The next second, Annelise's palm connected with his face.
Kian Miller was stunned. He covered his face, frozen in place.
Before he could speak,
Annelise had already turned to face Leo Lennox.
SLAP. The blow knocked Leo Lennox's glasses askew.
Then she turned to face Hugo Summers.
SLAP.
Three slaps. Three men. Perfectly neat, one for each.
