Annelise Valentine and Chloe Fairchild washed off the soot and grime, changed into clean, comfortable loungewear, and slowly made their way toward the main living room.
Chloe Fairchild said, "Annelise, do you think Jett Westgate is mad?"
Annelise Valentine tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "He won't be. I burned down Stonecross Manor, and he didn't do anything to me then, did he?"
As she spoke, she linked arms with Chloe Fairchild. "Compared to burning down a whole house, today was nothing. We just made a little smoke and messed up the kitchen a bit. The manor didn't actually catch on fire!"
"But Chloe, take my advice. From now on, we should both stay far away from the kitchen. Especially you."
Chloe replied, "Don't worry. If I even see a kitchen from now on, I'll take the long way around!"
