Jasper Hawthorne's gaze was like that of a dormant lion. He slowly opened his mouth to speak again, "Do you love him?"
"Of course I do. Why else would I be willing to marry him?" Shalma Hughes said, seemingly trying to convince herself as well.
"You're lying. If you truly loved him, how could you be so indifferent to his tabloid scandals? You've been married for almost two and a half months, yet you still haven't had a wedding. I don't even see a wedding ring on your finger, and he hasn't even taken you on a honeymoon. Shalma, aren't you sad?" Jasper Hawthorne said, taking slow, deliberate steps toward her.
A ring! A wedding! A honeymoon!
It was nothing more than a transaction. What did she need those things for?
"True love doesn't care about such things, Mr. Hawthorne!" Shalma Hughes replied with a resolute tone. "This is a private matter between him and me. You have no right to interfere."
