Julian Winslow was just about to say something, but was suddenly interrupted by Shalma Hughes, who stood up.
"Excuse me for a moment," Shalma said. She grabbed her bag from behind her and walked straight out of the private room without looking back.
Seeing that the situation was turning sour, Thea Grant took the opportunity to slip out as well. Then, Ronan Fordham received a subtle cue from Julian and followed suit.
Finally, when only three people were left in the room, the young assistant also sensed the tense atmosphere. He stood up, bowed slightly toward Jasper Hawthorne, and left his seat.
Once only the two of them remained, Jasper didn't mince words. "I didn't expect Mr. Winslow to act so fast, getting her to marry you in the blink of an eye. However, even if she married you, her heart might not belong to you. It's just a piece of paper. The divorce rate is so high nowadays, who's to say you won't get divorced someday?"
