She paced around the room in a panic. Finally, she slumped onto the floor, burying her face in her knees.

Shalma Hughes said nothing. She simply sat on the floor as if she hadn't heard a word he said.
How could Julian tolerate seeing her like this? Without another thought, he scooped her up from the floor. Shalma immediately began to struggle, pounding her fists against his chest and kicking her legs restlessly. "Let me go! You're all the same. You don't tell me anything. Why did you hide it from me? He placed her on the bed. She tried to sit up, but his heavy frame pressed her right back into the mattress.
