"How much time does he have left?" she asked.
Julian Winslow supported her waist. His grip wasn't tight, but it carried a restraining strength. He was genuinely afraid she would faint. "The doctor said if he's kept on life support, he has about a week or so."
Suddenly, Shalma Hughes reached back and grabbed Julian's hand. "Julius, go ask the doctor again. Is there any way to let him live just a little bit longer?"
Julian was just about to answer when he was interrupted by the sudden appearance of Lucas Lockwood.
"Unless we try a blood transfusion.
"Mr. Hughes is severely injured, but the most critical issue is his liver cancer," Lucas continued. "I just checked his blood type; he's type A. Coincidentally, our hospital's blood bank is currently short on type A blood, and time is of the essence. If you are his children, you could try donating blood first..."
Lucas's words made Shalma feel as if she had plummeted into a bottomless abyss. She wondered how he could be type A.
