Wu Shi slowed down. The rain had picked up again, causing the grip levels on the track to change once more. He was glad he hadn't hesitated.
After returning to the pit lane, still no one on the track had started their second flying lap. Within those short two or three minutes, the intensity of the rain shifted slightly several times.
It wasn't until everyone entered their sixth lap—realizing that they would run out of time if they didn't set a lap now—that they finally started their flying laps. By this time, the rain had lessened, but the wind direction had become complicated.
Ericsson and Bottas were the first to cross the finish line. The former clocked in at 1 minute 53.260 seconds, and the latter at 1 minute 53.259 seconds. Bottas beat Ericsson by a margin of one-thousandth of a second, but compared to Wu Shi's time, it was somewhat underwhelming.
This was completely normal, however, as Bottas had always been rather average in rain battles.
