At the mention of a second child, an uncontrollable wave of anger and grievance surged through Seraphina Quinn.
She reached out and pushed Jericho Hawthorne's handsome face away. It was too close. Her anger peaked, and she let out a bitter laugh. "A second child? Of course I didn't want one! Because you don't deserve it!"
Jericho Hawthorne's expression darkened, and the air around him grew palpably colder.
His voice lost its earlier gentleness. "If that's the case, then why did you have the baby?"
Seraphina Quinn took a deep breath and looked away from his face.
She gazed out the window at the glittering nightscape of Kingsland, her voice growing as faint as the evening breeze.
"Back then, to keep me from leaving, you used every dirty trick to deceive me! To get me pregnant with our second child, you went so far as to lie and say you'd had a vasectomy."
"You wanted to use a second child to trap me and prevent our divorce."
