Maybe the awful food was just too hard to stomach. Or maybe he just needed a distraction, something to keep him from thinking about what he was actually swallowing.

Kane turned and, in a hushed voice, asked Anvil, who was still silently gnawing on his black bread, "Was there anything else in that divine message? Like prophecies or instructions."

He paused, his voice heavy with the weight of their grim reality. "Anvil, you know we've been locked up in here for years. We can barely get enough to eat, and our old skills have grown rusty. It's not going to be easy to pass the trial."

Anvil was silent for a moment, his rough fingers unconsciously tightening their grip on the rock-hard bread.

He struggled internally, wondering whether he should reveal the whole truth: that Slimes were behind this, not Morgul.

But in the end, he gave up on the idea.
