Sylvia Sterling couldn't figure out Jude Langley's intentions.
Or rather, she could guess, but she couldn't see through them.
Jude Langley's feelings for her...?
The short walk to the parking lot.
Sylvia Sterling walked slowly, deliberately.
After a long silence, she broke it. "We were just watching the excitement. Don't spend so much money next time."
"Don't worry about saving my money. It's rare we get a chance to relax, so of course, we should enjoy it to the fullest."
Jude Langley handed her the car key. "You get in the car first. I'm going to have a smoke."
Sylvia Sterling took the key but didn't unlock the car.
Instead, she leaned against the side of the hood, looked up at the night sky, and said, "Go ahead."
Seeing this, Jude Langley didn't say much else.
He lit a cigarette, took a restrained drag, then turned his back to Sylvia and leaned against the other side of the car.
Under the quiet night sky.
