Jude Langley answered in a casual tone, "Acute gastritis."
Sylvia Sterling gave a half-smile. "Aren't you something."
"What can you do?" Jude Langley walked toward the hospital bed. "Too many banquets last week. Drank for days straight. My body just couldn't take it."
Sylvia Sterling took the opportunity to pick up the medical chart hanging at the foot of the bed.
Admission date: Last Thursday.
Sylvia Sterling frowned. "You've been hospitalized for five days and didn't say a word?"
Jude Langley's teasing voice came from behind her. "It's not like it's a terminal illness. No need for a public announcement."
"Don't say things like that!" Sylvia Sterling shot him a look of mock anger.
But as she turned, her arm bumped into Jude Langley's hard chest.
The touch was nothing beyond the normal bounds of social interaction between adults.
Akin to simply brushing past someone.
But the distance between them was too short.
