She arrived home before noon.
Stella Sterling rested for a moment before sending Roman Rhodes a sticker of a "cat secretly peeking at the screen."
Before the man could reply, a call unexpectedly came from her mother, Mrs. Sterling.
"Your aunt is here. Come home for lunch."
Stella agreed.
She glanced at their chat window. Roman Rhodes still hadn't replied.
Stella didn't wait any longer. She quickly tidied up and then hurried back to the Sterling residence.
She arrived at Crescent Lane.
Just as Stella stepped into the entryway, a video call from the man came in.
She spun on her heel, walking back outside as she answered.
On the screen, the man sat in his executive office, his features radiating the same gentle warmth as always.
"Where are you?"
Stella flipped the camera to show the small garden outside the door. "At my parents' house. I was going to ask you to lunch, but my aunt came over."
